"Once a nice place, Hillrise has taken a nosedive over the last year. Want a taste of living in Venezuela without leaving home? Look no further. Experience street racing, large groups chatting loudly, cars blasting music, and makeshift car repairs and washes. It's a block party every day and night, with BBQs, drinks, and kids everywhere—it seems like each apartment houses a dozen people. Men walk around without shirts, and music plays loudly late into the night, past midnight. With dozens living in each apartment, there is no spot available in the parking lot anymore. On the bright side, snow removal has improved—they've fixed that issue. If the problems listed here are addressed, I will gladly remove this review. However, I'm skeptical, as it seems there's no one in this place taking care or keeping watch."
"Excellent place to live. Vaulted ceilings, washer and dryer hookups. Maintenance speedy response. Covered parking. Minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Minutes from Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Restaurants, Bars and grocers nearby. Respectable Neighbors. Quiet and peaceful. Dedicated professional property management team."
"I truly wish I had more positive things to say other than the price and location is good. Though the price will be going up from what I have been told. I don’t get responses or calls answered, only maintenance requests submitted online. Though I haven’t gotten calls or texts back. Now it’s winter and they are more focused on the defunct clubhouse than shoveling snow, putting down salt, etc. I’ve already fallen and hurt myself along with others who live here. I also referred 3 people and got them moved into their own apartments, only to have the manager (at the time) get a bonus for them and no rent credits for me. TL;DR Location is great, it kind of ends there. Patience is key to keep yourself from losing your mind while waiting or hoping for help."
"The Hillrise Apartments are tucked away in a great location in Cottonwood Heights. I lived there for five years and many tenants have lived there for much longer. The place has its definite ups and downs, but I’d say overall it is a great complex if you’re looking for something more affordable (compared to what else it out there) and has lots of convenient businesses, shops and schools within walkable distance. It’s very quiet for the most part and relatively safe. A very friendly, diverse and unique community which I think is one of the highlights of this complex. I have made lifelong friends at The Hillrise. The units are cozy and have an eclectic feel ( I was in the older units that have beautiful Cathedral ceilings. The new ones are spacious and more modern with great natural light). The playground and tennis court could use an update and the walkways in the winter can be somewhat hazardous as the terrain of the complex is a little hilly. Management had a pretty high turnover rate the years I lived there and weren’t always the easiest to get ahold of. The newest manager, Dusty, has been wonderful and very easy to reach. She genuinely cares about the tenants and seems to have made a big difference in the small time she has been there. She has a physical presence at the complex and takes time to introduce herself and address tenant’s concerns. If my personal circumstances were different, I probably would have stayed. It seems as though the maintenance team is making many improvements throughout The Hillrise and I believe a lot of the units are being updated. All in all, my experience at The Hillrise was a good one. As with most apartment complexes, some issues can’t be fixed/addressed immediately due to the lower number of staff compared to tenants-but that just comes with the territory of renting. Any emergent issues are taken care of with a sense of urgency. I would definitely recommend The Hillrise to others who have realistic expectations and an open mind. It is a great place and I have many happy memories there!"
"These guys stole $2k from me. I moved and my deposit was never returned. At the time when I moved there was no property manager. No one to get in touch with. Information that I was given was bad and no phone call was ever answered. So when I left there was no one to touch base with. Months later I was finally able to get in touch with someone who claimed to be the property manager. She said that deposits have been late to come out since the vacants have yet to be inspected. She assured that mine would be looked over and that she would get back to me. That never happened and now no calls are answered. No matter what I would strongly advise someone to live elsewhere. Maintenance is slow to respond. Nothing but constant threats of fines if you do or don’t do xyz. Simply find some place else. These folks should be ashamed."
