"When the Staff's Friends are Just Hanging Out I've been in worse hotels in the area and, sadly, the trend at Hampton Inn in various states is an aging brand whose hotels are getting long in the teeth. I was at an event in Orem and would've stayed down there but I had an early flight and hate driving in Utah to the airport so I always book something around there the night before I leave. The rooms weren't horrible but they're old and it shows. The location is the best feature. The staff at the front desk was clearly going through the motions. Their cellphone and friends were more important than the customer. I should've known better because when I walked in and saw the friends hanging out in the lobby talking to the front desk clerk I realized I had stayed here before at least a year prior and it was the EXACT. SAME. THING. I get it. It's late at night. You're bored. You're friends are bored. But, it's a bad look and not one I'll come back to see again."
"I see Hampton took down my negative post. How convenient for them. We had a horrible experience. We booked online while driving. We arrived at midnight— too late to find another hotel. We had asked for a rollaway for our daughter in the two-queen room (family of five). The request was acknowledged. When we arrived the clerk unapologetically said they don’t provide rollaways. He had no suggestions what to do so I slept on the floor. He reluctantly gave me an extra blanket. I also asked if our bikes would be safe, locked on the rack on the car. He reassured me that the lot was safe, they had security cameras, and they never experienced car breakins. My bike was gone in the morning (at least the thief only took one). The day clerk was pretty unconcerned. Later the police detective told me that was one if the highest crime parking lots in the highest crime part of Salt Lake. I wrote to corporate and never heard back. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!"
"This was a pretty miserable experience. There was an event downstairs that was VERY loud. The noise was unrelenting until a little after 10pm and I was trying to get to bed early due to an early flight the next day. Even with headphones, the noise was terribly distracting. This event was not disclosed to me. The walls seemed to be very thin in general, as I could hear all the noises on my floor as if they were happening right next to me. The room was relatively clean, but not very. The TV was STUCK on Fox News. The volume and power buttons on the remote worked, but no other buttons did. Fox News was the only choice. The channel could not be changed and the Guide/Menu could not be loaded. This HAD to be intentional. The room was poorly lit and at least one of the lamps did not work. To top it off, mobile check-in and check-out did not work. I've never had this problem at any other hotel. Definitely very disappointed with Hilton and this hotel specifically."
"A pleasant young man checked me in and helped me clean up a mistake I'd made using the app. (Somehow I'd booked myself for tomorrow night, leaving Thanksgiving. Not!) He upgraded me to a suite that was big enough for a family of six that had a king bed as well as a queen sized sofa bed. The well-equipped bathroom has a tub/shower. In the main room there's a sink with a mirror. In addition to the desk in the center of the room, there was a four seat dining table. Everything was clean and comfortable."
"Meh. It's updated and the rooms are spacious, but it's half a mile farther down the road than the other hotels of similar quality & pricing and backs-up to an apartment complex. There were some design oddities that didn't make sense in the room, such as the bathroom light switch being nowhere near the door and the bathroom cabinet blocking access to the shower faucet and half of the shower entrance. There's no on-site cafe or grill."
