"Caution! Do not move in here! I have been here for almost 2 and half years. I moved into my new unit about 3 months ago, it was supposed to be an upgrade from my old until. It looks a like a spit shine to me. New upgrades over old appliances , you might get a new appliance but you have old everything else. You have to call for repair on the daily. The landlord is Michelle and she is the worst. She is so hard to talk to about anything, i cant get a word out and get blamed for the issues. . I Recently had to get my ac replaced and when it wouldn't work she told me to figure it out in front of someone else, so professionals. I have been having people in and out of my apartment for months and I'm very uncomfortable. She is very unprofessional and has told me to deal with it. Plus rent is $1400 for a one bedroom and with add ons you will pay over $1600. Just a head up."
"Where do I even begin? Alta pine apartments NOW known as The Franklyn has really gone downhill since I first started renting here. I have been living at this apartment complex for 12 years and it started out great until they switched over management. It all began after my second transfer to a different unit. I moved from Apt.23 to Apt.40 and somehow they said “they lost my deposit.” I have been there long enough that they could only go back in records 3-5 years. So of course I had to REPAY my $300 deposit. (which in my opinion shouldn’t have ever happened). When I moved out of apt.23 they charged me for cleaning and damages which Michelle (aka the manager) said, “I was not supposed to pay.” Only because when I moved into the apartment it wasn’t painted or cleaned. Linda, our manager before Michelle, took note of how the apartment looked and took pictures. So the next unit I got had a major leak from them remodeling the upstairs unit. It started from my kitchen ceiling, moved to the bathroom and ended in my kids room. When I brought the issue up to Michelle she said, “Well I guess you need to find somewhere else to live.” Without ever offering me and my family a transfer unit in the dead of winter. I guess she felt bad and apologized saying, “She wasn’t trying to kick us out but she thought it would have been easier if we left.” I told her no it actually would have been easier if you offered us another place for my family. At this point I thought things would change, between my family and Michelle since she came up and apologized. After the leak was fixed and cleaned up. Michelle told me I could stay for another 2 years. Which actually made me happy. This is home to us. We have things we need to pay off and we want to save up for a home and Michelle knew that. She told us we could stay as LONG as we needed. But as you can guess things went downhill again this April. I went to the office and Michelle told me in front of our maintenance man Sergio that I could no longer stay for another 2 years. They needed to remodel my apartment so I needed to transfer or find a new place. Once again asking me to leave. Leaving just wasn’t an option for me so we applied for a transfer. Michelle told me we were denied a transfer because “supposedly” I owed them money for Apt. 23 which months ago she said she received my check and that Apt. was all paid. So I knew for a fact she was lying to me once again. I finally realized enough is enough. I needed to find another place because my family and I were not welcomed there anymore. I’m not sure what I ever did to her to this point but she clearly didn’t like me. I never had a problem with anyone, especially a manager. I have never been late on rent and I never had a complaint of any kind. When I told Michelle that we have decided to move to another place she said, “Well good, you are getting a lot of complaints because your kids are playing outside past 10pm.” Which again is a lie. And another time towards the end of our stay she yelled at me in front of people saying, “ I already rented your place out.” Which couldn’t be true because there are so many vacant units. No one wants to stay here and deal with Michelle. Michelle has zero respect for anyone and is highly unprofessional. She honestly needs to get fired and they need to replace her before Franklin apartments lose more tenants. Everyone that I knew has left because of her. I had to leave the place that my family and I call home. We were happy living there , we lived there for 12 years. We are sad. We miss our old place and all the friends we made throughout the years. If I had the opportunity to come back I would but not until she’s gone. Hopefully this won’t happen to anyone else and that is why I am sharing my experience with Michelle as manager."
"If I could give no stars I would. Do not attempt to sign a lease here. You will be treated with no respect from the front desk lady Michelle. She promised me an apartment on the 25th. That turned into the 28th. Then on the 25th i was told my apartment would not be ready. She offered us another apartment but that one was musty and smelled like mold. Honestly so glad to be out of the lease but posting this here so no one else is scammed for $300 for the “admin fee”. I don’t know what the admin fee was actually for because Michelle has no clue how to do her job. She proceeded to yell at me and then play the victim card when she messed up. Save yourself $300 and a terrible time and sign a lease somewhere else."
"Our experience as residents here has been quite up and down. But the last six months have been much better. New management has been good, I am just scared of the potential rent hike because of it. This place is not really a “boutique lifestyle” property like the site says. But it is a decent place to live if you know and accept things before moving in. Despite the new units, the property itself and building structures are still old. You walk through your apartment and sometimes get a loud “bang” from the structure settling. The location CANNOT BE BEAT though and that is why we have stayed for three years. Most apartment complexes do come with a certain level of noise. You will definitely get that here due to the original windows from the 80’s that provide no sound proofing either. Like dogs barking, traffic on 900 and children running up and down the breezeways screaming. Some units do not have a balcony so be aware when you apply for a specific unit. The floor to ceiling windows in the top units are beautiful but they only provide blinds to cover half. So also be prepared to get some TALL curtains or UV film for the top half if you need darkness when you sleep. We are east facing so have high electric bills for AC/fans ($180) in the summer and gas ($90) in the winter due the original weather proofing wearing off. So budget for that. We deal because we have an absolutely STUNNING view of the east mountains. Just wish weather stripping would stay on, it doesn’t no matter how hard I clean. Overall, Pros: LOCATION, big beautiful trees, remodeled units and competent management that has cracked down on big issues over the last few months. Like smoking in units, not picking up dog waste and messy balconies. Cons: old windows, no balcony in our unit, noise and my parking spot is super far from my door. Bringing in the groceries is not fun."
