"I’ve just moved from Denver to Colorado with my GF from Washington D.C. where we lived in three large apartment building similar to Monaco Lakes. Because the culture in D.C. was over politicized, and a lot of social unrest (which is happening everywhere in varying degrees). We looked at a ton of apartments and reviews of them, but it really seemed like Monaco lakes negative reviews were consistently complaining about personal preferences versus living conditions and quality of management. We also checked out some other places that looked promising. After our investigations we found ourselves going back to considering Monaco Lakes. Once we decided Monaco Lakes was where we wanted to be, we honestly got nothing but extremely thoughtful, considerate assistance in everyway they could offer. I actually preemptively sent packages to our apartment. USPS’s delivery individual for the building was he the opposite of helpful. They knew how and why packages weren’t being delivered and literally, Gina (leasing manager) went to the Post Office, put me on speaker phone and retrieved as many items as she could on own her own volition. We’ve never had an apartment complex show so much interest in providing as much consideration and assistance as Monaco lakes has. Gina is very kind and SO helpful! Anthony, the Property manager not only helped us get into our new home comfortably, but also is a great Property Manager. He’s does a great job making sure this complex is safe, and that everyone is as respectful to the property and each other as possible. I haven’t interacted with Kenny much but he’s always been helpful, respectful, and does the best he can to help wherever he can. Monaco Lakes has really been everything we’ve hoped for. I can’t say everything is perfect, but you can really only ask for so much before you become a jerk. We couldn’t be happier with how they treat us and the condition of the property as well as our apartment."
"Okay so here’s my problem. Moved in October and been having problems since. First major problem, cockroaches. I’ve been complaining to the office for months about having them in the kitchen and bathroom. They have someone come spray every Tuesday but I keep telling them they are in the walls and spraying makes them come out worse. We had to get rid of our couch and dinner room chairs because of this problem. We can’t even keep anything in our Kitchen since they are always in the cabinets. They tried to tell us we are the only ones complaining about it when everyday I see someone new throwing away their furniture so I know were not the only ones. We tried to break the lease because it’s disgusting to live here with bugs but they said we couldn’t with paying a fee because they have been “TRYING” to fix the problem. Spraying hasn’t fix the problems since they have been doing it since February and I still see cockroaches everyday. If I could post photos with this review I would. Next our neighbors above us have their kids screaming all hours of the night and they are outside smoking with their kids screaming so there is no peace here, oh and their kids clogged their sink so I had to deal with all my bathroom, living room and kitchen being flooded. All the office did was bring me a trash can so the water Doesnt pour on the floor. As I called many times for help no one answered but once I walked over there, there were 4 employees sitting around talking. Finally after 4 hours maintenance came. Ive seen the cops at the apartments about 4 to 5 times already. This place is disgusting. Don’t move here!"
"I got a lease for 6 months. When moving in the place was not cleaned at all. There were dirty boot marks everywhere. Was told that if I wanted to break the lease I would need to let them know 2 months in advance. Turns out, I have to let them know 2 months in advance AND pay 2000$ fee if I break the lease. Stay away from these guys. They get you with the low move in costs, they usually have some sort of move in special. Guess what? THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE SPECIAL. And then its essentially impossible to break the lease. Cancer."
"I lived at this apartment complex for two years. The first year went as well as expected for the price you pay, which to say, wasn't bad. My favorite part was how the complex backed up to the Highline Canal Trail, and was situated in such a great location to get to downtown Denver and Aurora. However, the second year was absolute bonkers with a higher price tag. Out of the 12 months in a year, the gate that they advertise to help secure the community was broken and wide open for at least 8 of those 12 months. One or more residents intentionally broke the gate to avoid having to open it every time they arrived home, but Echelon Property Group refused to find out who was doing it and put a stop to it. In my time there, they made perhaps two efforts to fix the gate. Echelon should have at least prorated the amount its residents paid in full for that premium. Another amenity they advertise is their dog run. You'll notice they don't have a photo of the dog run up in their photo gallery. This is because their dog run was a literal, festering, feces-ridden swamp. The drainage was extremely poor, so it attracted disease vectors, such as mosquitoes, during the summer. Maintenance was slow to clean up the place to begin with, but they eventually lost all interest in maintaining this advertised amenity. I took my dog out of the apartment complex in order to do her duty. I realize that one of the factors that makes a living space livable is the tenants surrounding you. So, obviously, the blame for my complaints do not fully rest upon Echelon Property Group's shoulders. However, when someone in the parking lot is gunned down on New Years Eve... when S.W.A.T. raids your complex twice... when you make a frantic call to the police after hearing someone hit the wall, a woman scream for her life, and her infant child wail.... and scenes like that were not uncommon at City Square. Then perhaps you have to direct your gaze upon the property group letting random overnight passerby in by keeping the gate broken, by maintaining no oversight whatsoever for the safety of their tenants. Other properties in the area did not have nearly as dangerous a reputation that City Square had. Shame on Echelon Property Group for being so incredibly neglectful to me and all of my neighbors during the time that I was forced to call that place home. P.S. Office staff was great, for all that's worth."
"EDITED WITH UPDATE: 19 February 2018 - We moved out of City Square in October. We were told we were squared away & we were leaving because of the health issues caused by this disaster of a 'home'. It's been over 4 months and we just got a bill FROM COLLECTIONS after not hearing from CS at all since moving. It's over $3k. Thank you for continuously screwing up my life CS!! I have over $3k in health bills after living there, and now it's doubled for an apartment that was never maintained and that we paid rent for? This apartment complex is the dirtiest, poorly run place I've ever lived. ORIGINAL POST: Quiet hours are supposed to be 10pm-7am (I may be off by an hour) - yet there are families out with their screaming children in the court yard at all hours of the night. (We stayed up until 3am listening to it all one night.) There's a picnic table in the courtyard that's been there for at least 3 weeks, broken, completely collapsed. Children still sit on top of the pile every day while their parents sit on the new one that the apartments placed next to it. Last night, the maintenance person was out putting boards up on the pool's fence from 11:45-12:45 with power tools that we could hear on the 4th floor, in our bedroom which is at the back of the complex. We've had multiple issues with packages being delivered. The receptionist told us point-blank that when things are delivered before the office people get there, the Post Office just sets the packages outside... and they've been stolen, multiple times. My latest rant with packages is that we've been waiting for one for several days. We asked the manager on the 5th if we had any, and she was incredibly unfriendly, and snapped that if there were packages, we'd get a slip in our mailbox. That's fine, great even. However.. It's now the 7th, and we still haven't gotten a slip in our box, although our tracking says it was received by the office on the 5th. Our last property manager was great. Props to you Kasey. However, he was friendly, and listened. I didn't feel like the new manager wanted to even see us, let alone hear us speak when we went in the other day. Incredibly disappointing. We just moved in last fall, and just renewed our lease, hoping that things would continue improving. However, in the last week, it's just been disappointment one after another. The front office has been renovated multiple times, yet there's water damage throughout the complex, and landscaping maintenance that could be kept up with a lot better. Someone smokes in the little rooms that divide the complex from the street, and it's disgusting. People also let their dogs defecate all over the property, and no one keeps up with that. Oh, and there's no recycling, and there's constantly garbage everywhere near the parking lot. I hadn't wanted to post about my health publicly, but after talking to the management at CS and getting nowhere, I will. After living in the first apartment at CS, we thought switching to a bigger one would help me to not be coughing every night. We figured it was something in the air. It was. Dust Mites, Mold Mites, and English Plantain are 3 things I found out I was allergic to in August, after having to go to a specialist for the lung issues I'd incurred living at City Square. When we brought this to Makia's attention - she told us we could leave our lease after we had paid the month. I was put on 3 different medications to help with the health issues I was having there. We moved out in October, and into the Rocky Mountains. I haven't had 10% of the health issues in our new home that I had at that rat trap. Oh - did I mention the rats? We didn't have them on the 4th floor, but our friends on the 2nd did! And the basement floods frequently - 3x in our first 2 months living there. I'd advise looking elsewhere."
