"EDITED Review: TLDR - This was my most frustrating contractor experience of my adult life but I NOW HAVE A POOL. It is a dream come true. The condensed long story if you want more info: We heard great things about SCV so we didn't evaluate other pool companies. My bad. Communication was HORRIBLE. Emails not responded to, dates not kept, lack of timing communication. I can give lots of examples but to keep this simple it was just not good. Workers were lovely people for the most part. Didn't speak much english which was a challenge because my spanish is not good but that is not really a big deal, just something to be aware of. The main issue with their crews was the mess left behind. Our yard was a mess and often it was garbage including left over food including twice a chicken bone I found my dog trying to eat. We were also the storage location for things so multiple times we had workers come to our house at 6:45am to pick up equipment, supplies etc. I am up early but unfortunately because I didn't know they were coming I would get caught off guard with my dog going crazy and twice I was in my robe. It would have been fine with some communication but also, not an issue if they had removed their tools when they were done with them vs. keeping them here. Scheduling the final steps were PAINFUL. A lot of ignored messages, lack of planning and my frustration of having a big messy hole in the ground with no plan for that to change was exhausting. By some sort of miracle (and maybe some negative feedback) we ended up going from an end of January maybe schedule to a call on Wednesday saying we were being plastered the next day...on time. We now have a pool. I am so happy but it is not without issues. There is a crack that was plastered over. It may be fine but I am worried about the long term of it because I can see it through the plaster. I have had to consult with two pool experts to get opinions on it and hopefully it will all be fine. I am just so happy to have a pool I want to cry. As a response to my feedback I had a lot of attention from my Project Manager and a new person who is the Manager of the entire operation (not sure his title) and was told I would get some additional pricing on my decking repairs. I was PROMISED to have pricing in one week. This was a way to help improve my experience with SCV / Hawaii Pools. I was even told one day after I was promised that information that I would have it that day. We are almost 2 weeks from that date and I have yet to hear a single word from anyone there and I guess I am not surprised just was hopeful to have my experience improved. This whole experience may be just Hawaii time but I have had my floors redone, my windows replaced, my landscaping done and they were all wonderful so I feel like it is not about that but again, I admit maybe I just have too high of expectations for companies that I am spending $40,000 with."

"Never had a pool, always wanted one. I'm from Alaska. Bought a house on a cliff and called two options without result, then found SCV Pools. I have no doubt that I hired the absolute best! Suzie in the office is so organized, Steve stuck to his quote, even when things got rough. Solid bed of lava causing more time, minimal space to bring equipment through, fast timeline, and remember the 'cliff'? Many I talked to thought 'there's no way'. Not Steve. His experience is vast. He's successfully built pools hanging over soft sandy cliffs in L.A. He didn't let me make poor color choices, he didn't oversell me. What he did do is tell me I would want a spa, I would want the light package, infinity edge...I didn't initially want to go that far and was tempted to save money, yet wanting to be smart about this, I said yes to all. I am SO HAPPY I did! It is a the most breathtakingly beautiful pool. I completely love it and the spa. I light it at night and swim again under the stars. It's as if I'm walking off my lanai and into the ocean every time I swim--or happily float. If you are looking to put a pool in, trust in Steve and his team. The crew he hires are amazingly trustworthy, talented and nicknamed my pool 'Big Pour'. Yes, it is and its unbelievably beautiful, on budget quoted and thankfully, the color combo I was advised on.
