Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

"Room was 1/10. It was marketed as ocean view and we paid for ocean view. We have to stick our heads out to peek at the ocean on the other side of the hotel. It wasn’t fair, but my family already offloaded their luggages and we needed to leave for dinner already. Otherwise, location is both great and not so great. Near all the shops and restaurants, but the homeless population is growing in the area and it didn’t seem as safe as before. Just one pool and was crowded most of the time. I feel like it’s really just what you make out of it. We were out and about visiting national parks anyway so it was an ok stay and everyone there was very kind."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The Staff is friendly and helpful, even going so far as to get us into a different room that fit our needs better on extremely short notice. The little cove and beach are nice and groomed daily. The pool is also well cared for. With complimentary poolside drinks, and watersports equipment rental, this is a very enjoyable place to stay."

"Fantastic location for a Kona base on your trip to Big Island. We had two young kids in tow who loved the pool and the beach in front of the hotel. There’s great snorkeling just out past the bay as well. Fantastic value / experience here for families in my view. Staff were great leading up to the trip and during our stay. Particular shoutout to Matt whom I had spoken with in advance and helped us on check in. Made the experience great despite an elevator outage. Grateful for the reception that we received on late arrival after a big day of travel."

"Beautiful hotel but the beds are so hard and uncomfortable. If you're okay with firm beds, then you'll be fine. The location was great, the inlet on the property was a great beach access and the Luau was awesome! Great walkability to the little Kona Village town and other restaurants. Also, loved the workout room and all the different equipment that was available."

"Ugh, so much mixed feelings in this one. The property is beautiful, right on the beach, some shops inside, hallways and common areas smell great. But... the room was not so hot. Definitely a moldy/pissy smell in there, it was not pleasant. We kept the ac on to try to keep it down but there were times it was terrible. Everything outside the room was perfect. Poolside bar is nice, cabanas are excellent and affordable, food looked good although we did not eat there, we opted for food trucks and small places on our trip. The beach is very nice and had ample sea life to see while snorkeling, and we saw many whales off the dock/pier there. Overall very nice but the rooms need a gut job, especially for what they are charging."
