"Don't let the older reviews fool you this is the best hostel in Kona! I have stayed in all of them! The staff here is amazing, everything is clean and the kitchens are great. Plus the price is half of everywhere else."
"Terrible service. I called several different times trying to get ahold of someone and they never answered their phone. When we showed up at the hostel we couldn't find anyone working there. Eventually we did find someone and he was completely rude. The room wasn't worth the price. It was clean though"
"A man named "Ron" who works at this hostel got a key from reception and came into my dorm room at 1:30am thinking I was alone in the room. Luckily there was a guy who had checked in late and he grabbed his leg instead of mine in the dark. I don't know exactly what his intentions were, but I can't imagine they were good. Be careful!"
"I stayed two nights; two in the Private Rooms, half a day in the Dorm. Private room 1A is bug free & clean with a sliding door to the outside (that doesn't lock) At $55 a night it is very expensive in comparison to other hostels (for what you get, but is the only hostel in Kona). DO NOT STAY IN DORMS! I booked my second night in the dorm, but when I attempted to take a midday nap found that Even during the day the dorm has BEDBUGS!!! To add insult to injury the bunks have lawn chair pads instead of mattresses and are not locked or secured in any way. (I explained this to the staff and they gave me a private room again at the dorm price.) That evening I stayed in Private Room 2B which looked clean (I did a very thorough check upon arrival, checked mattress, crevices etc.) But about 3am was attacked by BEDBUGS. (I did not physically find the bedbugs) So I just cut my losses and decided to warn future travelers. Good Luck & Happy Travels."
"This is relay bad place I have traveled around allot, also in relay poor countries, like Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Zambia Malawi etc. So I'm not spoiled. It is definitely not a place you wold expect to find in this part of the world. A mattress that thin, made the stay a real pain. And it not only thin, it also fall apart. One toilet with shower shared by twelve people makes it a bit frustrating if the nature calls. The cleaning does definitely not keep a very high standard. When opening the fridge it smelled like a dead cat or something worse. So I did not store any food there. But fetching a cold beer you need two hand one for the beer and one for covering the nose. Just a little bit of effort from the staff could make this place good. But they are just fuzzy."
