"Our time at Banyan Tree Sanctuary was the closest feeling to Heaven on Earth I have experienced. It was a uniquely restorative magical time of joy, peace, compassion and beauty. BTS tantalizes all the senses with a deep connection to the natural beauty of the Big Island. A very special place indeed."
"Banyan Tree Sanctuary is only about 20 minutes from the airport and offers easy access to the north, east, and south, and yet it feels a world apart. I woke up with the birds in the morning and went to sleep listening to the frogs at night. The grounds and the ocean view to the west are stunning. Best of all was the feeling of calm and peace that I enjoyed because of the environment Rae and his friends have created for their guests. They combine amenities like a salt-water pool, jacuzzi, and infrared sauna with an emphasis on sustainability and stewardship of the land. I spent four nights in the Ocean Vista Suite on the top floor and loved its large lanai with a dining area and "living room" area. The suite also has a complete kitchen with breakfast nook, appliances, cookware, utensils, etc. I wish I could have stayed longer and hope to stay there again."
"it is a beautiful location, but the service and rules are despicable. this place isn’t for everyone, especially for young adults. their rules are very strict. there are no lights at all outside. the pool has many bugs in it and is very very cold. the rooms have tile floors and your feet will freeze at night. there is no accessible outlets for your personal needs. Also, the maintenance keeper was very rude. He just wanted his gone. Did not want us there whatsoever. he made it known that he had a problem with us and everything we did. Inspected our vehicle without our permission and invaded our privacy woke us up at 9 AM when we had a long drive and fell asleep at 12 putting our things away. he was banging on our door while all of us were sleeping. The people above us were stomping all over and yet we got complaints?? This place did not deserve our time nor our money."
"Ok, just so y’all know…if you have brown skin, or is possibly a local from Kona, Hawaii, you might not have the great service they advertise. I am Alaskan Native and stayed there for what was supposed to be 3 nights. I was allowed only 2 nights because we got in later than expected. I understand quiet hours are between 9pm and 8am, we had a lot of luggage and a sort of loud vehicle that we borrowed from a local resident here on the island, but to be woken up the next morning with hardly any sleep after a long drive, it was horrible. We couldn’t pick any fruit, we couldn’t walk their trails, they wanted us gone. I did however let my niece stay with us and of course I paid the difference but to be looked at as if we didn’t belong. Mind you it’s my daughter and i’s first time to Hawai’i and we thought we would get to pick fresh fruit from the trees as advertised, but we couldn’t and it we were very disappointed with the treatment we got. Sorry for the long read, but I just think you all should know, they might be prejudice against brown skin. Thank for your time in reading. We now know not to stay with them in the future."
"We stayed in the Manta Ray Suite at the Banyan Tree Sanctuary (BTS) last week and had an absolutely wonder experience! BTS is located at the very end of a long road, so there is no noise from the road to ruin your serenity. The room was clean and nicely appointed with its own private balcony which led onto the salt water pool and spa. The communal kitchen had everything you need to prepare meals: large stove, shared refrigerator, dishes, coffee maker, etc. There was also a small refrigerator in the room along with a hot water heater for making tea or instant coffee. My wife enjoyed the onsite massage. It was a place to stay, unwind and relax. Highly recommended and hope to stay there next time we’re on the island!"
