"First of all, it was mentioned during our stay, that this hotel is going to undergo major renovations in 2024! My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks (Feb 18th – Mar 4th). We enjoyed our time here, and in the heart of the busy neighbourhood, where there is an abundant amount of restaurants, coffee/snack/sweets places, and shopping areas of Waikiki! Our room was on the 7th floor. On our floor, the hallway carpets appear to be relatively new, as well as in our room. The 2 elevators to our floor, from the lobby were fast. We liked the newspaper and snack bag, each day, and it was handy re. the coffee, unsweetened tea and cold water was always available in the lobby. We loved our sunny, east-facing view, especially at night . Our air conditioning worked well! The pool area was okay, and we enjoyed the sounds of water falling into it. It would be nice if pool was heated thru the day, as people commented how cold it was! The pool was well-used by several, when we were there. Pool towels were available at front desk. Parts of the hotel room do need a makeover. We weren’t unhappy with the pale yellow colour of the walls, like others were. The bathroom floor does need upgrading, re. it being old and stained. The shower had plenty of hot water (altho’ temp. could fluctuate, sporadically), as well as the sink ran hot. The kitchen area was small, not much counter space for what we needed to put on it, and the panelling around it looked old-style. Two burners didn’t work on the stove, but we just needed 2. When we requested a kettle, pot, pan, and can opener from front desk, it was brought up to us in a fast 10 minutes! Cutlery was already in the drawers. Keurig coffeemaker in room, and pods are replenished by housekeepers. The room, altho’ manageable, was small, as one bed was almost up against the wall, and the other was close to the patio door. More visible electrical outlets would be helpful, in living room/bed area. We rarely saw bugs. We did not have bed bugs, thank goodness, which some others had mentioned in the past! We saw the pesticide person finishing-up around the pool area on our last day. Altho’ not the fault of the hotel, with many rooms being near busy Kuhio St., there was noise re. some fast, noisy cars and motorcycles without mufflers, that became alot for us over time. Also, foolish guests weren’t considerate of others, later at night, nor in morning, due to doors closing on their own, they let them slam shut, instead of holding them, to close. A large group of young Danish people, were included on our floor, and they kept slamming the door as they came and went, at 11:30 pm. I mention this, for any future guests to be considerate of other guests. The housekeepers were very pleasant, and did a good job of cleaning our room. The carpets were always vacuumed, and the comfy beds made-up nicely! Service was done every day. When we left a tip, the first few times, they would leave a note thanking us for it! How often has that happened on our many trips...never!! Thanks Wren for your extra goodbyes! Front desk staff and bell-hops were helpful/friendly. We felt safe at the hotel and on the streets, due to the busyness. For the upcoming renovations, it would be wise for the hotel to offer a better ramp system in the front of the hotel. The current one, altho’ it is skid-free, the grade seems too steep, not legit, for anyone who would be using it for a transport chair (like me), a wheelchair, or lots of luggage."
"When we first got to the hotel we were a little terrified of the rooms. They are small, grubby and extremely outdated. We thought about getting another hotel but decided to stick it out, and we are actually really glad we did. The rooms were cleaned daily and the staff was friendly. The location is excellent, a five minute walk to Waikiki beach. Very safe location with great restaurants and excellent night life surrounding it. Our room actually had amazing views too. The air conditioning worked well. The kitchenette was pathetic though and too small to even cook anything. With the money we saved by staying at this cheap hotel we were able to do lots of other fun things."
"Must be comfortable with ** Cockroaches ** if you stay here. I noticed several roaches within minutes of being in the room. I was going to ask for a room change until I read the other reviews and realized the whole hotel is likely infested. Feeling stuck, I did what I could and bought roach traps. I ended up killing about 20 by hand over 4 days and the traps caught another 10 or so. Juvenile roaches kept crawling out of the seal around the fridge. In some areas the seal is ripped and roaches were living inside it. In the bathroom by the door, some of the old wall paper was separating and when I pushed on it, roaches ran out. I imagine roaches are common in the tropics but this was really gross. I would have taken more photos but I honestly didn’t want more visuals reinforced in my memory. As for service, some folks left reviews about bad service at the front desk but they were always polite and positive when I spoke with them. The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to the beach, food, and shopping."
"I found ants for two days. The bathroom ceiling pipe had a leak. The front desk wasn't surprised. I wasnt a partial refund or anything . The rooms are thin, you can hear people and their conversations. I booked a double bed and was given a single bed. The windows do not block out noise and no black out curtains. The water wasn't hot enough even at max. It barely created steam. Housekeepers were great. I took videos upon entering and you can see the chair has damage already. Not pictured but part of a wall was missing a little in the corner. Front desk is understaffed. Great location but awful place. The amenity fee is a joke. You have to claim a bag each day( limited hours). It is two cans of soda, bag of chips and a granola bar."
"Definitely dated. I mean, we enjoyed our stay, but the place needs some Reno's for sure. The beds were comfortable. The shower was small and barely got warm. We were in the first floor above the lobby, which wasn't the worst, but there is a restaurant/bar downstairs and you could hear it. Also being that close to the street there was a lot of noise, which you don't usually hear as much higher up. After a few days there the room started to smell, like it was collecting our stank from being out all day and not letting it out. There isn't a ton of air flow as there is only one small window in the bedroom and the balcony sliding door. There is a fan in the main kitchen/bedroom area and air conditioning in the bedroom. Also for some reason on the last day the room started to smell like someone had dumped their ashtray into the carpet. Parking isn't great as it's a bit of a tight squeeze, and it's quite expensive at 45$ a day. The location however is fantastic."
