"Two of my children attending this CDC. 7 years ago when my son first enrolled the Director was Nora and asst. Director was Renee. They knew every child's name, they were always friendly and very helpful. They took the time to get to know not only the children who attended but the parents and their siblings. They made the center more then just a daycare or a preschool, it wasn't just a place you drop off your kids, it was pretty much a home away from home feeling. My two boys loved to go to school the staff made it enjoyable for them. Sad to say since the Director retired and the asst. Director transferred to another location management has not met the same warm and welcoming feeling. They lack communication, they are ALWAYS short staffed and now the barely know each child's name. Out of 7 years we missed one payment and wasnt told anything until late afternoon that if payment wasn't received by end of day (01/23/18) that my child may not come to school the following day. Needless to say the payment was made the same day but felt like we could have been reminded instead of threatened. The very next week on Monday (01/29/18) I requested payment history for tax purposes which was to be ready at pick up. When I got there I followed up on my earlier request with the new girl who asked Asst. Director Wanda about my documents she directed the receptionist to ask Brenda. Brenda was with another parent instead of trying to help with the situation, she replied in an unprofessional tone "I' m with another parent to ask so and so" she then stated that it might be on the desk (which it wasnt) then she turned to me and very rudely asked me if I needed it right now. On the last day of the month a few days later during pick up the receptionist informs my child's father that they needed more document for the annual and that bc they don't have it that our rate will be adjusted to the max amount on Feb 1st. The notice was less than 24 hours and the annual documents was submitted in the beginning of the month. Management had more than enough ample time to inform us of any request or change. With no prior notice but less than a 24 hours verbally, we decided to pull our child out and seek other childcare. But it didn't end there, we was told we would need to give a 2 weeks notice and would have to pay the high end rate for half the month. I was very disappointed with management and how they handled the situation. What once was a great and amazing place for your child to learn, to be loved, cared for is no longer that and has gone down hill within less than 6 mos. We had 7 great years that turned into literally 1 week of a big nightmare. I am heartbroken and sad that my child was not able to tell his friends goodbye who he's known for 3 years. We weren't able to thank the teachers who's help my children grow and learned. As of today I would not recommend this place to any military or DOD family. This location needs a lot of help. Run by poor management is the main reason there is a high turn over of employees and for always being short staffed. Your child will not have the consistency and schedule they need to thrive as little people. Im afraid to say it but your child will not have the attention they require when its short staffed and the ratio for child to teach is low. They will not be known as children but yet another payment to keep their center open. The asst director Renee who we first enrolled with is now at Ford island. I just wish we had the chance to transfer before we made the decision to pull our son out. Don't get me wrong there are still some awesome teachers and staff left here but I'm sure they will be gone soon. All the good old timers have either transferred or are now retired."
