"I have a complaint about a very ignorant and rude individual that works at the front desk. On 03/02/2024, I reserved a room on the IHG website for Tripler, Building 228. At the time of the booking, there were two types of rooms available (Double-bed suite and Single bed suite) -- two types for retirees and two for military and civilians. The rates between the two types are different. I am a federal employee, relatively new to the island and booked as a civilian for a leisure visit. When I arrived, the front desk person wasn't at the desk. I stood there for about a minute, before ringing the little bell. When she finally came out, she looked disheveled and untidy, as if she had just woken up. I mentioned that I was checking in with a reservation. She fumbled with the computer and verified that I made a reservation on the website, then proceeded to tell me that the hotel was overbooked and had no rooms available. I contested this with the fact that the website said that there were rooms available. She rudely tried to force me to accept that what she was saying was true, despite evidence to the contrary. Based on the way she spoke to me, I felt that I was being discriminated against and denied an available room due to her personal reasons. I had to work overtime and arrived wearing work clothes and a safety vest. I didn't need the aggravation. I have other issues that I would like to discuss with management."
"The room is clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable. This hotel was converted from two people room barracks on a 2 flats. One side is a bedroom and the other side is living room. The bathroom is in between the rooms. The bathroom is small and not much space on the sink to put my hygiene kits. The AC unis aren't as loud as regular hotels. Overall, the room is a 4-star. The hot and continental breakfast is extremely limited compared to a regular Holiday Inn or similar types. No computers are working in the business center. A Starbucks and Subway are available by the hospital side or a short walk. There are no restaurants on site or in the area. A car or rental car is a must to stay in this IHG. The view is incredibly beautiful to see downtown, airport, the ocean, and nearby towns."
"This is very much a historic building. It’s only 2-story and no elevator so if you have mobility issues be sure to request a room on the main level. Very old windows & doors which are unique but also a bit tricky. Door lock going out to our balcony was hateful but in historic building that is to be expected. Blinds don’t exactly cover the windows very well. Beautiful views and a very quiet area. Laundry room is available at no charge & that was nice. Breakfast was mediocre but for no additional charge you can’t expect too much."
"We stayed here and we were very impressed by the hotel, especially for being in a historic building. The rooms were quiet, clean and safe. The view we had over the port and the airport was great. The hotel had ice, filtered water and free washers and dryers to use, which worked great. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff really came through. They left balloons, a bottle of wine and candies. If you have to stay here or come to the island I recommend staying here."
"Do NOT recommend. Upon arrival, I could not check in! I had booked on the official IHG website and provided my credit card number. They said that the IHG website allows up to 5 more bookings than the number of rooms that exist -- what?! Also, if you are a civilian, you will need to give your SOCIAL SECURITY number so they can do a background check on you just so you can drive on base. Finally, the people that I interacted with were neither friendly nor polite. If you enjoy that kind of thing, you should stay here."
