Reviews
"Great staff, lovely experience."
"Pros- Brand new, modern, color options. Staff is friendly. Cons- Poor construction/very basic quality materials. Management does not follow through to ensure that your needs are met. MAINTENANCE is a nightmare. I did not renew my 1 year contract with Highland Park due to my extreme disadisfaction with the maintenance service and the careless work ethic. Overall quality of life is 1 star when you're dealing with all the "inconveniences." Incidents: 2 significant ceiling leaks that busted out lights above the bathtub and above the kitchen sink. Maintenance was extremely unprofessional and unreliable throughout the entire time repairs were being made. Call at 3 am because power went out, and management text at 4 am. 1st leak It took approx 4 months to fill in the hole above the tub where the leak was coming from. After I submitted multiple reminders, maintenance returned and installed the light above the tub and said they "just forgot". At that point, fiberglass had been falling out of the ceiling. They dont clean up after themselves either. The tub, floor, and rug were left extremely dirty. 2nd leak Water poured out onto the kitchen counter and on the floors- caught my laptop. The ceiling in the kitchen was to be cut out after a few days. One day, I came home to see that the entire living room/kitchen floors were smeared with what looked like white drywall mud. It had to be scrubbed to get out of the floor. This white mud was splattered everywhere- walls, fridge, dishwasher, but worst of all, on my personal belongings, including my sofas and TV. Maintenance had promised to cover up my personal property with plastic before cutting the ceiling out and they did not do that. During that repair, they stuffed mud-drywall and hard peices of material into the drain, clogging it up and shortly after, the disposal stopped working and had to submit yet another ticket. Maintenance used my own cleaning supplies for their attempt to clean, only making it worse. They wiped up paint with my towels, the paper towel roll was used up and what was left of it was soaked with water, the Swiffer mop was covered in mud drywall material, and my disinfecting wipes were opened and left out to dry. I did not give them permission to use any of my supplies. I immediately contacted the manager and a couple days later she sent out a cleaning crew- I had to clean up after the cleaning crew, to make the story shorter. Maintenance also does not try to turn off lights or the fan on their way out. 4 months later, I got a text that someone will be coming to fix the patch left in the bathroom ceiling that was left unfinished. They were planning to do it in 2 days but I no longer give them permission to enter my unit to finish that up after they used my personal belongings again to clean paint- cotton bath towel ruined and left in the sink. They can do it after I move out. This is not ok and it is an invasion and destruction of personal property. I decided to leave many details out since this review is already too lengthy. I do not recommend Higand park/Orchard properties for anyone looking to stay longer than just a few months. That's how long it took for this new building to fall apart."
