"I have been apartment searching the past few weeks and out of all the leasing staff I have spoken to at various leasing offices Kailah Harper was the most unhelpful “leasing consultant” I have encountered. I called the complex prior to me driving from Tempe on Saturday March 2nd showed up and I was told they did not have an apt to show me which at the time I understood we agreed for me to go by during the week so we agreed on Tuesday March 5th during my lunch hour, I show up and she acted like we never set anything or spoke, she again told me she did not have a 1 bedroom to show me so I literally showed up for nothing. She was very unwilling to give me options or ask me any other questions I had to ask her to give me options as to when I was looking for, I had to mention how interested I was to moving to the complex and wanted to know the steps I needed to take she told me to apply and gave a apt number to apply for, apply without showing an apt, sounds like a the most terrible suggestion. Long story short I found a place that gave me the time and gave me options. Her attitude made me think if I ever did move there and I had any issues I would be treated in such careless way. When people are coming to find their new home treat them better even if you don’t have availability, moving/looking for a home is stressful enough, give people options and don’t waste their time."
"Lived at this location for a little over a year. The buildings are well renovated but definetely older in terms of quality and under a thick layer of white paint it's obvious it has not been maintained very well. Requested maintenance work was sometimes fast and friendly and another time I got left with sewage filling up my bathtub from the drain for nearly a week (my apartment smelled vile and i was a wfh employee at the time) with infrequent communications and rude dismissals from management in person and via email. Management also just "forgot" that I turned in my 60 day notice and attempted to double my rent for my last month of living there in another passive aggressive email. I sent them their own confirmation email replying to my 60 days notice and they left me alone. Notably they did not apologize. I had other management members come to my door several times asking when I'd be leaving in the weeks leading up to my move out date (Which they confirmed when I gave my 60 day notice). After I moved out, and settled my final bill through their payment portal, I was harassed for the next 4 months by their billing department. I was threatened with collections agencies and credit score drops because sometime after I paid my "final utilities bill" they raised the bill by 15 dollars and never told me except to threaten me with lack of payment. I reached out to their billing department about the harassment and it took them 4 weeks to get back to me about the 15 dollar "unpaid balance" and instead of apologizing for the rude treatment, aggressive emails, and just writing off the $15 dollars, they doubled down and asked for a final Utilities payment even though I paid the full amount their portal showed me was owed 4 months prior. i paid the 15 dollars just to never have to speak with them again. I would not do business with this company or property again if it was the only thing standing between me and a heart transplant. Evil corporate landlord incarnate, cannot give a lower rating for my experiences. The landscapers actually do great work at the property and deserve more pay than the rest of their entire organization combined."
"I moved here in July. So many things needed to be fixed. I spoke with Jessica and Josh in person about the issues as well as submitting a maintenance request: The front door handle was broken, the air filter needed to be changed, the washing machine didn’t work, the garbage disposal didn’t work, there was no hot water in the kitchen or bathroom sinks, and the sliding glass door had missing blinds. Maintenance fixed the garbage disposal, washing machine, and replaced the missing blinds. They told me the hot water just “took a minute” to heat up. Josh had a plumber come in September after I again requested they fix the hot water but the plumber did not fix the issue. I still do not have hot water in the kitchen or bathroom sinks. Maintenance attached another handle to the front door but did not connect it so it was still broken. I put up with the broken door for a month or two as they told me they only had one maintenance person for the whole complex and “only emergency’s were being taken care of.” In September, I again requested they fix the front door. This time, they gave me a different key as the lock also frequently got stuck and would neither lock or unlock without difficulty. I was not able to get into my apartment and had to call the emergency locksmith the end of September. They told me it would cost over $100 for them to send someone out so I continued wiggling and banging until I finally got the door open. I reached out via email to Josh stating this needed to be fixed right away but did not receive a response. I finally got ahold of someone in the office who sent someone to fix my front door October 1. I had been having trouble breathing due to severe allergies so requested they change the air filter. Josh said they already did. I asked if they could please change it again - the recommendation is to change it every 1-2 months. Jessica gave me new filters to replace them myself but gave me the wrong size so I was not able to change them. I had to make another trip to the office and brought the old filter so they could find the matching size. Prior to move in, they told me the utilities bill is between $50-100 per month for my 1 bedroom (720 sf) unit. Last months bill was $250, and this month was $300. They are double charging me every month for renters insurance. I provided documentation of renters insurance prior to move in and have emailed Josh multiple times as well as spoken with him in person about removing this charge. He has not removed it and continues to charge me each month. The grounds are littered with dog poop, glass shards, bones, bottles, and cigarette butts. I am not able to utilize the dog park as it has so much poop everywhere and is never cleaned. A water pipe in front of my unit is leaking. I included a few pictures. You can see how the damage has progressed in the last 10 days. Jose has closed the work order twice without fixing it. He requested I “stop creating maintenance requests that do not pertain to my apartment.” Thank you for illustrating my point. In conclusion, this is a horrible place to live. Definitely not worth $1800/month. 1/29 update: currently, attempting to live without the use of a microwave. It broke Thursday. I made a maintenance request that evening. I visited the office in person to schedule an appointment for that morning and was assured there were no other emergencies so someone would be over soon. I water for 4 hours before leaving for work. While I was gone, someone came and left a huge box (microwave) at my entryway. It is difficult to go in and out and I cannot use my patio space. I called Saturday so I could again schedule an appointment since they were a no show Friday. I was told they are off on the weekend but would come first thing Monday. At this point, I emailed Josh to be sure he is aware of the expensive equipment that was left unattended, blocking my entrance, and confirming in writing our appointment so there is a record of a second no show. I waited all morning for maintenance to come and again, no show."
"I visited the complex today for a tour and pricing info. Josh and (I believe her name was)Kaila were both very helpful, easy and actually fun to talk to! I only gave 4 stars due to the high price of the 1 BR apt I was interested in. It's a shame! I think I would really enjoy living there!! Great Job both of you."
"Hello everyone my name is Tony O I had been living in the Vertu community for the past 5 years, besides the people and the doggie lifestyle (they have a dog park) the pool and gym are very appealing. As of writing this I no longer reside in the apartment complex but I would like to say personally that Josh the new manager has been a breath of fresh air for the community. Not only is he very professional, kindhearted and easy to talk to. He understands the peoples needs in the community and addressed all my questions with reassuring answers and acted on my requests! Anyone looking for a great community should look no further. Y’all take care!"
