"First, the good news: the code to get in the room worked fine. And now the rest…This place is a dump. I arrived to a room (Sonder: Scottsdale, the Mariposa) that had trash in the cans, wet towels on the bathroom floor, and a bed that had been slept in. Because it was after 630p when I arrived the lobby was already closed and no one could tend to this train wreck . I called the contact number in the Sonder app (it had a Massachusetts area code) and someone did answer. I explained what I was looking at. I told them I was leaving and wanted to make sure my prepaid room got refunded. I was told to send pictures to the Sonder email and someone would respond to my refund request within 48 hours. The marketing pictures for this ‘Scottsdale’ hotel are deceiving. They tricked me. They made this place look beautiful on the internet! It is not. It’s a cheap, low rent, budget motel in the worst part of Scottsdale. It could be this is East or South Scottsdale (seems like the worst part of every city is in the east or south). The rooms were low quality. Everything about it is cheap. The gym was terrible (we peaked inside as we escaped). The parking outside was sketchy. It felt like a place where recent parolees go until they can find permanent housing. Unfortunately, I booked this disaster weeks in advance. My wife quickly noted that she would have hated this place even if our room had been clean. The rooms sucked. We then had to try to book a different place late on a Friday night near Scottsdale. I should have figured that the very reasonable price I paid at Sonder was not without cause… This place is terrible. Anywhere else is a better option. Steer clear."

"I was nervous after reading some of the reviews. Mainly that my codes weren't going to work. However, everything worked perfect, and if I did need something, their chat feature was a great resource and very quick to respond. I will say the virtual key worked much better than the codes. Check in was super easy, my room was clean, bed was extremely comfortable. Only complaints I have is that the walls are very thin, so you can hear just about everything from anywhere on the outside and that lots of light does shine through the blackout curtains, which is understandable because they keep it lit up at night for safety reasons. I was walking distance to Skysong for my workshop and I never felt unsafe walking alone at night after dinners and such. After my stay, check-out was also super easy. No need to go to the front desk for either check-in or check-out."

"Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous to stay here after reading some of the reviews but my husband and myself were actually quite pleased with our experience! We did have an issue with the code not working for our room at first but thankfully we checked in within the open lobby hours so we were helped with our issue immediately. My one other complaint is there were a couple smudge marks on the fitted sheet which made me question whether they were actually washed.. however, other than that the room was very clean and the shower and bathroom were very nice. Also, the pool area was awesome and pretty low-key. We enjoyed the pool area all to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon."

"The place is great. The water never got hot for a shower. After a long day of driving was looking forward to a long hot shower. Never got past a lukewarm:( and the shower floor very slick. Other then that it was great. Good easy parking, good communication and promptly answered questions. Very quiet and peaceful. Would stay here again for sure. Would have gotten a 5 if the shower would get hot."

"The bed was not clean. Opened the sheets after a long day of travel to find chips and other food crumbs etc. Very disgusted. There are no staff past 6pm, so there was no option to have that dealt with... Pretty unacceptable. I don't mind the concept of a staff-less hotel, if the quality and cleanliness standards are exceptional but unfortunately this is not the case. Housekeeping did not speak English and also did not replace our towels after cleaning our room. All issues must be resolved before 6pm before there are no staff. Luckily we came back briefly during the day to change or we would not have noticed our room was left with no towels. Water pressure and heat in the showers was pretty poor. Pool was reported to be open but in fact was closed for most of our visit and we unfortunately weren't able to enjoy it. Hours and information were not updated to reflect reality. Would not recommend staying at this hotel if you want an easy, seamless and stress-free visit."
