"DO NOT STAY HERE! An absolute mess of bookings, dirty rooms, horrific customer service. They booked me in a room that had a bedroom with a security light shining directly through the window with no window coverings that blocked the light. You could see where someone had torn it down and it had not been addressed. We had a total of five rooms requiring three moves to even get to a functional stay and upon checkout there was not acknowledgment of the total miss for which was a requirement in our customer service exchanges. When they were approached to fix the credit and do the right thing, they refused. Absolutely a horrific experience and unkempt, dirty facilities that are super dark due to lack of lighting. Not safe, not clean, collecting a check for location."
"After a 3-week January stay at Sonder Mill Ave, my main comment is that the accommodation was everything I had hoped for, or better: - The neighborhood was vibrant and walkable - The attached Whole Foods was a critical “must-have” - My unit was spacious and comfortable - The private Internet connection (13-20 Mbps) was sufficient for Zoom calls and TV - Sleep was fantastic: comfortable memory foam mattress; concrete walls/floors blocked every noise - The gym was fully stocked - My deck overlooked the picturesque courtyard and pools; my deck got sunlight for part of the day (not all units do) - The sound of the pool’s water jets were soothing like a private Zen Fountain So why not 5 stars? Several annoyances, some worse than others: - My room had an overpowering sandalwood smell that barely dissipated after 3 weeks - Greasy foot stains in the shower that could not be removed with spray cleaner - Turns out, these came from a FILTHY kitchen/bathroom floor that wiped up pure black when I cleaned it - A known issue with all shower faucets; my handle rotated continuously with no stopping point, alternating between hot, cold, strong, and weak, but didn’t really turn off–I could only cut it to a trickle, which was ok, but I hate wasting water in a desert - My desk chair was very wobbly (all 4 legs; screws stripped) - The unheated pools felt like Lake Michigan (although there’s a hot tub in the shade) - No inner bolt on the door for security–just the one that the electronic code controls - Several instructions from Sonder (eg, lock-box #, code to the pool) were so deeply buried in the app that I couldn’t find them Still, Sonder’s representatives were responsive, and the service and staff were all friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!"
"Complete the check-in process online BEFORE you arrive!!! Otherwise, you will be meet with a world of confusion.. Staying at this place was like watching a movie with a good concept, that was executed poorly.. This place can work, depending on your plans.. If you plan on visiting the area for a while, and would like to have the extra space to cook and invite people over, and feel more like a home and ect... Then this place could work and be ok... But if your trip to the area is just for a short visit, I really recommend you go elsewhere.. it's just not worth the hassle for a short visit in my opinion, and it makes you appreciate those small hotel amenities. Pros: -Location is great -The rooms and kitchen are nice -Balcony -Clean building Cons: -No cable on the tv (You have to hook you laptop/phone to their tv to watch anything) -Horrible cell phone reception in the room, unless standing by the window (T-mobile) -The rooms are dark with almost no lighting (not that many lights to turn on) -Crappy bed (Felt like I was sleeping on a "display only" bed in a Ikea store) -Only one Key Fob for entry (which sucks if your with other people and you all need a key for entry) -Curtain/shades for the windows and balcony (my room had those black pull down shades that you can barely see through. I personally hate those, because I feel that everyone can still somewhat see me, even with those shades down. Once again, if you stay here, do yourself a favor and check your emails to do the check-in process before arriving, ESPECIALLY if you plan arriving later in the night tired after traveling all day."
"The most horrible place to stay at is this. Do not get into the trap from the photos. The checkin process is 10 pages long and they don’t inform you in advance that checkin may take an hour. Parking process is another 10 pages long and that may take upto 30mins. By any chance if you make it through the checkin process and reached your apartment door at 3.55pm you won’t be able to go in your room. You will have to wait till 4.01pm to open the door."
"The city of Tempe allows gas powered leaf blowers to be used to clean the parking garages next door for hours on end in the middle of the night. We attempted to file a noise complaint and were told there’s nothing the Tempe police can or will do about it because “businesses are exempt from excessive noise regulations”. If you want to sleep, do NOT stay here."
