I trust them with all my diesel needs!"
"Honest. Fair. Knowledgeable. Dropped off my truck on a recommendation from Lopers Performance- go see Mike & Derrick. Coming back to town after working a contract, my 5.9 Cummins was making a ticking sound. Could have been any number of things, so I wanted to get it looked at. I was told the diagnostic would be $125, and they’d be able to get a better idea of what (if anything) was wrong with the truck. Having ran cetane booster and injector clean, chasing down some other possible things to eliminate the noise, such as replacing the idler pulley (which was making some noise) belt.. fuel filter, oil filter, top off all fluids (oil level to quiet down the upper valve train) - the noise persisted. Valve adjustment, noisy lifter.. injector kill test. Exhaust leak. I wanted a well trained tech to get in and make sure we could isolate the source of the noise and eliminate any potential issues that needed to be addressed. They ran through the list of concerns, pulled the belt, listened and still heard a slight tick, but weren’t too concerned. They proposed a valve lash adjustment, and then informed me of some costs - while letting me know there is a chance this might not actually eliminate the ticking sound. Removing the valve cover could require a new gasket, however, the new gasket has a $500 harness built into it, and that upon inspection, it could need to be replaced. The valve adjustment would be a couple hours of labor, plus parts... getting in over a grand. Slight pinhole exhaust leak found, not making noise. Repair not recommended based on high cost/negligible benefit. Conclusion: in the end, they felt safe giving me the the truck back without the need for repairs- and waived all diagnostic and shop charges. This alone tells me the shop will absolutely be 1000% honest when it comes to any costly repair, regardless of the cost. Recommend this shop with the highest enthusiasm and confidence."
