"I’m reviewing this as a birder who frequents this park for its diverse habitats and frequent rarities. Tucked away in an industrial section of town within earshot of the airport, this tiny park provides important habitat for overwintering waterfowl, a sanctuary for year round resident passerines and woodpeckers, as well as an important stop during migration. Yes, the parking lot is typically frequented by off duty air cargo employees and random people looking for a place to park and drink alcohol. Yes, there can be uncomfortable situations in wooded areas with houseless individuals. Yes, cars get broken into occasionally based on the amount of glass in the parking lot. But the city is being more attentive to the park and things are getting better, it’s feeling safer and I’m seeing more families, grade school field trips, and birders here. Also, the volunteers/employees who maintain the trails are doing an amazing job fixing things up after each storm. It’s a favorite birding spot and a great little nature escape in the heart of the industrial city."
"It's a lovely place to visit. It's a spot where wildlife is surrounded by loud industry but have this little safe spot for to live in. Dogs aren't allowed, even on a leash because it's a refuge and scent marking from dogs is disruptive to the animals that live there. People sometimes dump cats there and they kill the ground nesting birds and the native turtles. There are portable toilets that are rarely cleaned, but there's a nearby Subway and the bathroom is available with a purchase. No playground - it's a nature refuse for wildlife protection. There is a gazebo with three picnic tables."
"Was a beautiful quite place of peace. I did how come once and it was blocked off for and event, and the second time the Littles were on a field trip, but I enjoyed it. No parking from 10pm to 5 or 6 am or you will be towed away. I do not think you can eat from this water but I believe people sport fish for carp here. Check portland parks and recreation for details. Have fun."
"Very cute park, there's a path that goes around the pond, about half a mile long. We saw lots of birds, a couple of bunnies, and a beaver. We saw the beaver from the dock, looking right to the clearing. I'll include the pic of where we saw it. No dogs. Porta potty restroom. Covered picnic benches (3 under each pavilion, 2 covered areas). Accessible viewpoint for bird watching."
"This is one of our families favorite walking spots. There are always ducks and geese. Sometimes we get lucky and see the stork and beaver. Its beautiful in any of the 4 seasons, and very kid friendly. My almost 3 year old LOVES coming here :)"
