"The apartments themselves are decent, compared to what they looked like before, but the owners/operators of this complex are not forthcoming with information when it comes to additional costs when asked. I spoke with a leasing agent on my initial visit, as well as the property manager. The units are supposedly wired for cable and internet, but was told neither of them are included in the cost of rent, and I would actually need it to be set up by a cable provider. Off-street parking actually costs between $120-$240 a year (I have never lived at a complex with less parking spaces than actual apartments, while charging for said space), or you can take a chance parking on the street. There was no mention of the cost for the application fee on the site until you are done filling out the application, with NO mention of a "hard pull" to one's credit report (they didn't even know the reference when I asked!). There was also no mention of how much an applicant must earn to lease a unit, nor was this information provided on the website (I suspect they will use an unprofessional/biased way of determining who would actually be allowed to rent). In the end, I was left with more questions than answers about this place, and decided to rent elsewhere. If you're interested in renting, I would suggest you invest in another property, or find a realtor. Be very careful with businesses that are not up front with their costs when asked. You may regret doing business with them in the long run!"
"So it's 2:18am. I am wide awake because I am irritated and annoyed. With the amount of rent that is charged(not to mention utilities not included..yes, even water u pay seperate), I was expecting much more from The Gentilly. It is currently raining and I'm MOPPING up water from both rooms that's leaking in from the base boards/foundation/wall close to the window. My rugs are ruined ans they are soaking wet and I'm just livid. This is unacceptable and a hazard. Someone could get electrocuted. Water was pooled under the bed(whatever was not absorbed by the rug). I'm starting to think this is a recipe for MOLD. UPDATE!!!! So this update should have been done the day after the incident. Management was at my door first thing in the morning and the maintenance team went straight to work. The problem was fixed and I was COMPLETELY satisfied. There is no issue of mold as I had ASSUMED. Claudio the apartment manager is very patient and efficient. He was even kind enough to offer to move me to another unit if the issue was major or needed more time to be fixed. I didn't want it to get to that because I already loved my unit. The ascent wall, color of the floors and all....I have to say everything settled nicely and I'm enjoying my apartment and the quietness Gentilly has to offer. I apologize for the late update and I'm changing my 2 stars to 5 stars."
"The best decision I made was moving my two children to this apartment complex. From the beginning everyone has been very professional, all of the correspondence has been done via phone or internet no "in person" interaction, which works for my schedule. The apartment complex is very quite and the staff is quick to respond to any issues."
"I’ve lived here for three months and I love it. It’s quiet and everyone seems to be of working class so no one is just hanging out during the day. Any issues that I’ve had (which have been for the most part living in New Orleans related, bugs outside my door because New Orleans) the management and maintenance team have been understanding, immediately responsive, and respectable of my apartment (I’m one of those people who would heavily prefer for others to not wear shoes inside my apartment, it’s gross af, and they respect that)... Also the price for a two bedroom that is updated with hardwood floors and stainless steel appliances isn’t bad"
"Don’t waste your time . No one is ever in the leasing office . Moved because my car was burglized TWICE!!! Left for safety reasons after my lease was expired earlier and some of the management staff harassed me via text even threaten to evict me from an apartment I wasn’t even living in !! Smh . Security cameras don’t work. They also raised the rent but won’t even hire security guards to prevent theft . A car was even stolen from the gated area. The fire alarms are faulty and go off for hours and hours at a time . I highly recommend finding somewhere else ."
