"The staff was this place's saving grace. I thought the hotel would have been nice to stay in. It's perfectly located near Bourbon Street. Our first room was smaller than anticipated & it also had mold behind the bathroom door & in the corner above the bed. Staff was EXTREMELY alert, attentive & very accommodating to our issues. Our heater also wasn't working. We had to call maintenance. They came extremely promptly & fixed the issue. It was something about it being a water filter unit or something. The breakfast was absolutely flavorful & filling. If they would upgrade their rooms, then this hotel would be much better."
"I highly recommend this hotel. Absolutely fair prices for a great location in the French Quarter. Clean rooms with marble floors. Lovely courtyard. Very good breakfast. Very friendly service. Hotel bar is nice and the 21 Amendment around the corner belongs to the hotel too. Live bands playing good jazz and blues music ."
"This is our favourite hotel in New Orleans. The staff are amazing, the accommodations are perfect. The stay is comfortable in just the way you want it to be. Usually... On our last stay though, Mazarin fell right off the horse. It was a Christmastime visit. First off, our room had a heater/AC that was malfunctioning and it constantly made a noise that sounded like industrial noise. Until we worked out where the sound was coming from, we thought that there was a construction crew in the hotel courtyard. I initially went out to see where they were and to see if they could do the work during the day. We needed the air conditioner to keep the temperature bearable in the winter weather, but it was really disturbing our use of the room and our sleep. The worst thing about the stay, though, is that we booked a tour. The tour bus was coming up pick us up. I have a foreign phone number, but the tour company knows the hotel desk staff, so they rang to let them know that they were coming - that was a reminder for us to be ready. The lady at the desk told the tour company that we weren't staying there, so they just didn't come to collect us. When we came down to catch the bus, it didn't arrive by the tour start time. We asked the desk lady if she'd seen the bus and she told us that she'd told them we're not at the hotel and they weren't coming. When we asked her why she did that, she told me of and dressed me down for using the hotel as a base when I wasn't even a guest. We then had an argument about it and I had to bring up our booking to convince her that we were actually guests. When I asked her what she thought we should do about that, she literally threw her hands in the air. It was very clear that she didn't care and made it fairly clear that we had annoyed her even though we were just trying to join our tour. We contacted the tour company and explained what had happened. They were very good and put us on the next tour, and collected us from the hotel, but unfortunately we had other bookings that day, so we had the leave the tour before it was finished and catch an uber back. It was an absolutely shocking performance by Hotel Mazarin. It was really shabby and it might be okay for a motel, but it's really not good enough for a high-end property like Hotel Mazarin. Just to make things worse, I mentioned it to the night staff and they were shocked too. They said they'd ring my wife (on her American) number to hear our experience and concerns. They never did. So, disappointing."
"I stayed here 2 different nights while traveling from California for my birthday, and this hotel/service made it so stress free! Both rooms I stayed in were clean and comfy. The staff was extremely helpful and the Bar Vin was perfect! The live music at 21st Amendment was also a great time. I will definitely be returning!"
"Everyone here was so accommodating. We were there during the Christmas Holiday. The front desk, the security, were very helpful. The front desk Sonja must have liked us she gave us homemade pralines. The Security Crystal took us to a jazz bar around the corner that was fantastic. The room was spacious and we had complimentary drink coupons. If you have a problem with this place it's you, not them. The location was fantastic and close to everything!"
