About the Business
Peninsula Park Rose Garden is a beautiful community oasis located in Portland, Oregon. Nestled under towering trees on N Rosa Parks Way, this park offers emerald-green lawns, playgrounds for children of all ages, a colorful splash pad for hot summer days, and the stunning Peninsula Park Rose Garden.
The Friends of Peninsula Rose Garden is a group of passionate neighbors and gardeners who come together to maintain and enhance this beloved garden. Although not all members are rose growers, they share a love for Peninsula Park and its beautiful roses.
The rose garden was once a showplace, attracting thousands of visitors in its early years. It is home to the official Portland rose, Mme. Caroline Testout, and played a significant role in earning Portland the nickname 'City of Roses'. The garden retains many original design elements, including an ornamental fountain, brick walkways, and a historic music pavilion.
The octagonal bandstand in the garden, used for patriotic demonstrations during World War I, is now a popular spot for weddings and concerts. Designated as a National Heritage historical structure and a Portland Historic Landmark, it is a unique and cherished feature of the park.

"Large well kept up park. Large trees all over, playground, tennis corts, basketball corts, swimming pool, ball Fields, band stand and a large rose garden I live 5,6 blocks away an if the winds right I can smell the roses from my house. wonderful...."
"I'm so grateful that these little gems in Portland have been preserved. In a time that Portland was in rough place, I was relieved to find this park in great shape. During the early part of June, the roses and flower beds in this park are in bloom. The fragrance is intoxicating. You can bring a picnic lunch or a coffee and find a spot in the garden to take in the beauty. The fountain and gazebo are popular destinations in the park. On street parking is available. It appears that bus lines are in close proximity."
"Love this park."
