"Had a 6 chair mcm table estimated today, red flags galore. An estimate should include looking at all pieces; all located in basement, Skylar already had a price in no more than 5 minutes, I asked if he wanted to see two of the chairs, about 10 steps away, he said “not unless they are in a hundred pieces” nor did he look at the butterfly leaf under the table. He did not respect our wishes to keep the piece original (he would prefer to charge for leather, not vinyl as original to piece); perhaps he had a preconceived notion based on our age or location, before he knew we had previous knowledge and experience in mcm furniture restoration and have worked with professionals, such as Chicago mcm warehouse, specifically with this piece. The estimated cost was above twice the average, and more than the resale value of the piece itself. No, we did not want him to “haul it away today” without even looking at the complete piece, though it did spark his interest when we said we were looking to have a second piece worked on as well. This seemed like a company that wanted far above top dollar without wanting to even give a complete inspection. No thanks, quite uncomfortable, everyone should at the very least get a second opinion."

"Mullaly Finishing managed to fix extensive shipping damage to 2 century-old cedar chests. The "professional packaging" handler had packaged the chests handle-side down, which caused a side to completely cave in, splintering the wood. The chests have been returned, and I can't tell where the seams are from the splinters. They saved every piece of the original wood, and the chests look better than they did before they were shipped to me. I couldn't be happier. Mr. Mullaly himself is a gem. He's helpful and responsive with great advice for dealing with insurance claims. This company cares deeply about their work, and it shows in the customer service and the final product. The prices quoted for finishing or repairs might seem steep at first, but you're paying for expertise and skill you cannot find anywhere else. These guys are refinishing antique materials, which requires great care. I highly recommend them for any repair or finishing needs."
