"A decent place to live if you aren’t super rich. It’s a great balance between rent and distance from campus buildings. It gets noisy at thurs, fri and sat nights though."
"My son had lived in Saxony for two years. It is located at one of the best location near Campus. Very convenient and affordable. The management always replied quickly for my emails and had no complaint at all. They returned the security deposit fully with no problem."
"I had a single bedroom at Saxony for two years, ending mid-2021. PROS: Pretty great prices for the quality and location. Option for a 9.5-month lease for students, though this is more expensive. I had no issues with management, and received my full security deposit despite some minor damage. In general, a good experience. 4/5 stars is accurate, maybe 3.5. CONS (there are more than pros only because they are easier to think of): No control over heating (central heating). Limited control of AC (the AC unit is covered in the "off-season" and you are forbidden from using it). Frequent wifi and ethernet-internet outages (about weekly), and management forbids using personal routers for some reason. There are two thermostats per floor of the apartment complex, one of which was in my apartment (I guess due to old construction) so I had the added annoyance that at any time management might knock asking to access the thermostat. I disliked this conceptually, but it only happened once or twice. You are not told about this before you move in. Packages are sometimes not held securely or are left in areas that anyone walking past the building can access, and when they are received by the desk, the desk hours are kind of meager and you can only receive them during those hours. This is a hard problem to fix, in fairness."
"Staying at the Saxony for the last two years has been great. There are many advantages to living here and it is especially a great deal for out of state students. The apartments are fully furnished and the appliances and the furniture is really nice and they recently upgraded the couches. The management has been great to work with, they are very prompt with maintenance requests that I have had over the last couple of years and very friendly and professional in their interactions. There are resident managers you can call if you need something after hours and they are also very prompt and helpful. The price and the flexibility in lease terms offered is second to none for college students in Madison and is especially helpful for grad students or exchange students. The location is also something you can't beat, it is in the heart of campus if you want to go east there is a bus stop right across the street if you are going west there is a bus stop with multiple buses a half a block away and if you don't feel like walking that half a block hop on the #13 bus that stops right outside the building and will take you to that stop. Most everything is within walking distance and I really like that about the location of the building."
"I've rented in Madison for 5 years, 2 of which were with Saxony Apartments and they were by far my most pleasant experience. They have the most attentive and caring staff, and I haven't dealt with a management team that put their tenants as a higher priority than Saxony. Packages are held behind the desk, laundry facilities are clean and well kept, provided appliances in the apartments are brand new, and if there is ever an issue with something in your apartment they are always quick to address it. The location is perfect, all my classes were within a 7 minute bike ride, even as an engineering student who had most of them near Camp Randell. Saxony is a block or two away from the grocery store, several main bus stops, the Serf, the Kohl Center, State Street, and right next door to Ian's Pizza!"
