"Catherine Jennings proves that experience does not equal being professional. I was filed a claim against after their washer dryer's hose exploded in the wall so the company would not take the blame. There was no evidence against me in this case. Initially had only good things to share about how management took care of maintenance but recently have come home to my door unlocked and constantly need to give her boss a progress report."
"The property managers, Eric & Catie, are amazing. Catie always responds to my questions and concerns right away in a kind and thoughtful way. Eric takes care of most maintenance issues and often takes care of the issue the same day I make a request. They also live on site in the complex, so they are easily reachable and understand the needs of the tenants. The location of the building itself can be tricky. The proximity to Telegraph is awesome but it does lend itself to lots of break-ins of cars parked on the nearby streets. It’s no fault of the management, just the cost of living in this area. This is my first time living in Oakland, and this complex has been a great introduction to the city."
"First off, Catie and Eric are great. Super responsive, really helpful, always straightforward and pleasant to deal with. Catie makes a real effort to host events and make everyone feel welcome. Eric does a great job of quickly coming out for urgent maintenance. That said, I recommend if you are looking for a building to live in for an extended period of time, I suggest that you look elsewhere. After your introductory rate is up, you will be paying well above market rate. This is not the fault of the lovely property managers, but the management company itself. The appliances are fine, but I did have a defective refrigerator and the gas stove has no exhaust. There is street noise with the window open, and for most of the year you'll need to keep a window open. All these signs point to a building that has been cheaply constructed and furnished with cheap appliances. I give the property management company 1 star, but I give Catie and Eric 5."
"Lived here for ~6 months now and would like to just do a shout out to management. Catie (manager) and Eric (maintenance) are both pro-active and super communicative and responsive. I honestly feel like they genuinely care about me, my apartment, and the community at 4801 Shattuck. There was a somewhat intrusive maintenance issue with my unit shortly after moving in (right after the crazy storms the Bay had in early Jan), and I have to hand it to them to do everything they could in a timely manner and/or communicate timelines with me. They were quick, clean, and attentive. I've lived in the bay area for about 6 yrs now and have never had a better landlord/building manager."
"This review is for the previous management, and hopefully the new management will take this into consideration. The previous community manager, Amber, was very unprofessional, unhelpful, and hostile towards our apartment. She never made my partner and I feel welcomed here as Asian Americans, such as simply saying hi to us as her residents. She was nice to us during the process of visiting and applying to the apartment, but then she switched up fast once we became residents. I’ve never dealt with such unprofessionalism. For example, she would send passive aggressive emails to residents while being hypocritical as a manager. She would enable herself to park in certain spots overnight but gets mad at others for doing the same. I’m addition, Amber would mark our maintenance requests as completed on the service portal without actually fixing anything. We were not informed that we moved into an apartment that had so many issues, such as not having the washer and dryer for the first two months. Then, our apartment did not have running hot water for three months. There were many other serious issues with the apartment that Amber and the company failed to help us address. Amid the pandemic, Amber also never wore a mask. My experience in this complex has not been pleasant at all, and I currently do not recommend this place until the new management do better."
