Rica Vista Apartments 1825 Poggi Street, Alameda, CA 94501

"I understand the building has become a Tax Credit Low Income property, which in itself is not a problem and many changes are taking place. However, I have seen multiple changes in management since I have lived here and this management has very low communication skills. Often rude and unhelpful with resident requests.I requested reasonable accommodations in September 2023 and have yet to get any response. When I did speak to the manager about my request the response was "I have 5000 emails" "that's an easy fix" yet still no communication.When changes are made there are no memos or notifications given. Locks to the parking access doors are not secure (B building). One particular door the lock has been broken since 2021. One parking lot is gradually sinking yet, there has been no repairs. Many residents have windows that leak when it rains. There is never any communication about these repairs and they are expected to be fixed. And lastly, my last rent increase in November was above 10% which classifies me as rent burdened. Residents are moving out at a rapid rate. I am a disabled senior and moving would take time and would also be troublesome. Until then I will hope for changes and a better living experience. I liked my apartment. I want to give the maintenance crew 5 stars. They are awesome in spite of the many challenges they face. Example; common areas are harder to keep presentable because some new tenants and their quest make it difficult. Also, there is lots of drug activity on the property. I live in the B building, so I am unsure how the other 3 buildings are managed. I am giving a 2 star only because of the maintenance crew. Moreover, this is the most unprofessional manager ever with low soft (people) skills. JK"

"In August some work was being done in my apartment I was not told it was going to take weeks, the repairs displaced my family and we had to live and squeeze in the living room while work went on no communication at all from the office tried to contact them on the matter but no answer. I had a leak in one of the bedrooms contacted the office and nothing was done, I still have plastic paper on my window can’t even open windows for fresh air bathroom windows was supposed to be replaced in August nothing was done I still have plastic paper on the window. was told someone would come the next day but no one showed up until two days later. My tires were slashed by a tenant and I missed a day of work to go replace them. Packages keep getting stolen and the door to access the building is always left open and yet it’s supposed to serve as security, trash is being left at the entrance of the building. This is really frustrating."

"The process was was a very well welcoming. The people that work here are very nice and Respectful . Very cordual.i would most definitely recommend Rica Vista as a place to live ."

"Building is nice , being worked on. The new manager my be a challenge for some people. She doesn't have any people skills period, overbearing and extremely unreasonable. As a tenants advocate I feel extremely sorry for them. She made an elderly woman cry, and didn't apologize once. But, was upset with me for showing empathy towards the woman."
