"Everything I've ever had done has been at this hospital. As any place, there's always going to be problems, but when it comes to my health, my family's health. I want the best people for the job, and that's UT hospital. All of your medical records are there together. The Dr's can even get together with each other and talk about the best plan for you (your life). I can't see myself going anywhere else. 1 negative thing, ER needs some help. The Dr's and nurses are friendly, but sitting and waiting for over 12hrs is no fun. BUT! The ER was so full nowhere to even sit, and that's out of their control to who and how many people come there. Some people there for not really sure. And they don't turn you away. As far for me and my family, this is where we will be."
"This hospital is very clean and the staff seem super nice."
"Horrible experience. I was sent here by my physician who called their ER department ahead of time to let them know I needed to be seen immediately due to some concerning levels showing pancreatitis. They let me sit in horrible pain, puking, in the ER waiting room for 6 hours before finally sticking me into a hallway instead of a room. I never got a room, they moved me once and didn’t tell my husband who the couldn’t find me. They kept me there for another 7 hours before saying they couldn’t do anything because my pancreas wasn’t going to burst so I should go home and come back later if it got worse. I then received the largest ER bill I have ever seen for the worst experience. When I spoke to their billing department they refused to send me a breakdown on charges. My insurance finally had to help me call them to get the information. Don’t go here. It’s 3 times more expensive than other hospitals and horrible treatment. I’d honestly go to a vet’s office before coming here again."
"I unfortunately had to visit UTMC twice in one weekend, and these two experiences were night and day. I would give one visit 5 stars and the other 1 star. My first visit, everyone was great and so understanding! My nurse was absolutely amazing, the techs and nurse interns were great, and the doctor wasn’t exactly the nicest, but he knew his stuff and that’s what’s important. They ran tests, made me comfortable, and eventually sent me home! I still wasn’t feeling great, but the pain was manageable and I was doing a lot better than I was when I came in. The second time, I felt completely invalidated. One nurse was sweet, and the nurse interns were amazing. The others, however, acted like they had absolutely no desire to be there. The staff’s attitudes this time made me feel uncomfortable and like a complete inconvenience. They made it obvious that they were understaffed and annoyed based upon their demeanor and their conversations outside of the room. Side note - The wait was extremely long for both visits, but this is to be expected when seeking treatment in an ER, especially a level I trauma center. Although I was miserable and in a lot of pain, I know that individuals were coming in via EMS and Lifestar that were in much worse shape than I was. In the end, the wait was frustrating but definitely not the issue. The drastic difference in care received during both visits is what really got to me."
"I live in NY, but have had to make several trips to take care of a loved one who has had multiple surgeries & inpatient stays at UTMC. This hospital just amazes me. All staff, from valet to cafeteria to cleaners, to medical professionals are warm & friendly, focused on making people feel their best again. The doctors we were involved with had excellent bedside manners, and really took their time to understand & help. And I truly cannot say enough about the nurses here. My loved one can be quite grumpy and they were always pleasant, patient, and on task with a smile. Thank you!"
