"Contractors, stay away from this place. Their maintenance staff tries to sabotage your work. Not sure what their deal is but our job took twice as long, for no reason other than the staff constantly harassing us. Our company will not work there again. I feel bad for the residents."
"I have a family member who moved in a little over a year ago. What I will say positive about this facility is the building is beautiful and the apartments are spacious and airy. They did a fantastic job with remodeling this old highschool. However….. The management has changed 3 times in one year. The staff turnover recently is ridiculous…that says a load in and of itself. My family member pays 3k a month to live here- which includes 3 meals a day. THE FOOD IS HORRENDOUS- nursing home type meals. It’s actually quite laughable the food they serve to these people. It’s cheaply made and poorly prepared. Numerous people have complained to management but nothing has changed- in fact it has gotten worse- who knew that was possible? My family member has to spend an extra $100 a week just to make their own food. That’s unconscionable considering how much they pay already. The building itself is not feasible for elderly folks- the back door which has 3 steps leading up to a padlock which their fab unlocks opens toward them- therefore they have to step down backwards off the steps in order to open the door to get in. They just recently fixed the hand rail outside- it was coming out of the cement and was wobbly. The doors weigh a ton (because they are original). When we had snow and ice around Christmas, Knox High did not even salt/shovel the entrance ways!! Basic things that should be taken into account with older people. No one is ever at the front desk- I have sat outside for 30+ min calling and ringing the doorbell. If there had been an emergency, it would have been the same story. Not to mention, the place is a ghost town- no events or social gatherings. It really is quite sad considering what a beautiful place it is. I honestly could go on and on about how displeased my family member and I have been. For this kind of money per month, residents should have their concerns heard and taken action on. This is NOT a nursing home- it’s supposed to high end retirement…but that is a far cry from what you or your loved one will get. We are currently in the process of finding a new independent living facility for my family member- one that is worth the money. I have discouraged many people not to move themselves or their loved ones into Knox High."
"After one week of moving my beloved mother to Knoxville High Senior Living facility I must share I am very, very, very pleased. More importantly, my mother loves this facility, staff, and residents. This past Saturday my mother called me, after a planned event there, my mother informed me she is elated and excited! The value of Mother's happiness is priceless! The 24-hour available staff is available to help with literally ANYTHING. After researching all possible locations for an adult living facility, I found Knoxville High Independent Senior Living to be the highest quality, professionally staffed, and totally comprehensive facility. I sleep well knowing my mother is well cared for, happy, and safe. I am pleased and comforted with the security measures in place: this starts with the entrance being staffed with qualified/trained smiling faces ready and waiting to assist with any and all needs to all entrances electronically secure. Residents have a state-of-the-art (FOB) electronic exterior door entry lock access to the beauty of the interiors. The main entrance is meticulously planned and welcoming, the staff's offices are surrounded by glass adding extra eyes to view all movements in the entrance. The next room is a three-story atrium (interior) with a stunning water fountain in the center, Chairs and seating are strategically located everywhere in public spaces to provide comfort for the residents. The ceilings throughout are fantastically 15’ high, the windows are very high, this allows for natural light to beautifully flow in everywhere. I can assure to find a facility matching this quality and comfort you need to travel to Atlanta. (We did not wish to have mother three hours away.) The building: I am an architect and greatly appreciate the attention to detail and the use of the highest quality materials in the loving restoration of this historic building. I have experience in historic preservation and restoration. This building has been lovingly preserved and restored while adding all modern safety and comfort accommodations. MY RECOMENDATION, "MOVE HERE"."
"My mohter, daughter (24) and I toured Knoxville High while looking for an independent living home for mom. This has a luxury downtown condo feel and look. The decor is gorgeous with wide hallways, stunning ceilings and windows, and beautiful exposed brick walls. The full kitchen and washer/dryer combos are a rarity and we found the pricing to be quite reasonable for everything included. My daughter and I agreed we would live there in a heartbeat - I hope it is still around when I am ready."
"Wonderfully restored building. Only 80 apartments available, studio, 1 BR, 2 BR. No two are alike, every classroom was turned into an apartment. Independent senior living at its finest!"
