"My sister and I stayed for two nights in early October (2023) for our stay in Memphis. House was awesome, full of charm and eccentric art. Welcomed by Stacee and Sally, two wonderful hosts and cooks. Can't say enough nice things about them, truly super kind and helpful! The area felt safe, cars are in gated parking lot and on a fairly quiet street. Would definitely recommend to others visiting Memphis. Less than 10 min ride to Beale St., The Civil Rights Musuem, and maybe 15 min to Graceland. 10/10!"
"Had to cancel a two-room, two-night stay. Was told I'd be charged $50 per night, per room. This was for a trip I was rescheduling. They didn't offer to apply it to a future trip. Pretty terrible policy for cancelling a full month in advance, but fair enough. When I explained that I would never consider staying there again and they were trading a lifetime of future stays for four guests for $200, they were fine with that. HOWEVER, they FULLY CHARGED us the $2,000. I had to call and complain and they explained it was policy to do so - to fully charge a guest for a cancellation, make them notice the credit card statement, then call and complain in order to reverse the charges afterward. All this instead of just cancelling the stay a month in advance, and charging us the penalty. This is borderline fraud. Terrible business."
"Grand home with incredible antique furnishings. Very comfortable bedding and a large suite with a nice large bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Both Sallee and Stacee were so kind and hospitable"
"The whole house is gorgeous. We had the Isabel room which was extremely beautiful and comfortable. Stacee was a wonderful host. The location is perfect and quiet. The only suggestions we could offer is it would be nice to have welcoming afternoon snacks and drinks: Coffee, tea, water, baked goods, etc. A couple of bottles of water in the room would have been nice. As soon as we checked in, instead of sitting back and relaxing which we were looking forward to and are accustomed to in a bed and breakfast, we had to get back in our car and go 3 miles to find good coffee and bottled water. There is a coffee maker in the room, but that's just not the same. Plants and flower arrangements would also warm up the place a lot. Just some suggestions. The place is still five stars! Oh and the morning coffee and breakfasts were wonderful!"
"My husband and I stayed at The James Lee House for 2 nights and we loved every second. There's something so special about being in a home with so much history and beauty. Stacee is so helpful and made us the most delicious breakfast both mornings. We are looking forward to our next stay!"
