"I often stay at Hampton Inn when traveling. When I made this reservation including my two small dogs I was quoted a $30 total pet fee. I even questioned this twice to be sure. However, the hotel in Knoxville charged us a $75 pet fee. When I disputed this at check in, I was told I must have spoken to the main corporate reservation line who may not know about the “local fee structure”. I called bull Hampton/Hilton is all the same to me and a rate quoted by any rep local or main reservation line should be honored. I was told they would bring it up to the GM who could issue a refund for the difference which didn’t happen. As far as I am concerned these are deceptive bait and switch business practices and I will not stay at this hotel ever again. To be clear had I been quoted $75 originally, I still would have booked the room. However I will not abide liars and cheats!"
"The staff is outstanding. Friendly. Will do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable. The bed was not comfortable. Walls are thin. W wise white noise apps d I’d bet the people in the next room heard them. We had a King room. It had a small desk, and chase lounge. The bathroom counter space was way too small. There were few plugs and no USB ports. Doesn’t t really fit the modern traveler. I guess it would be good for one person in the room. But it was too tight for the two of us."
"Hampton Inn East in Knoxville is a good place to stay. The stafff is the friendliest and most helpful of any hotel I have stayed in over the past 3 or 4 years. That makes the hotel the best. Clean and friendly. Bottom line. Stay there. For the good and the bad, keep reading. We have stayed 4 times in the past 18 months and every time the staff has been topnotch. The breakfast bar is good. Dry eggs as expected but they have great condiments like salsa, cheese, jalapeno's and other stuff to put on them to make them better. The waffle bar is also great. Juice, coffe, fruit. All the normal stuff but with a freindly staff worker to help with anything you ask. The pool is to die for. Now the bad stuff. The light on the desk is so short that you have to move it over to the side in order to sit your laptop on the desk. The new tv system that was installed between our visit a month ago and Christmas STINKS. It will not stay connected to the internet. You can not change the in put source so you can plug in Roku. The channel selection is horrible. They offer Netflix, but you have to log into your personal account! The new system was put in, I am sure, so they can "personalize" your stay by putting your name on the screen and letting you login to Hilton Rewards. All I can say is that they wasted a lot of time and money. I would rather have the old tv with a real remote rather than my name on the tv screen when I come into the room. The other "upgrade" they put in last year are the pump soap dispensers in the shower and on the vanity. They are horrible. The shower soap comes out in a little glob and you have to put 4 or 5 globs on your cloth then you can't get it rinsed off. You have to rinse forever. It just feels slimy. Someone convinced them this is cheaper and more chic than a bar of soap. Next time, I will bring my own. On the same rant, I used the hand lotion on the vanity and it is so bad.... You know how you put sunscreen on and it turns you white and you can't get it rubbed in? Same with the lotion. Horrible. don't touch the stuff. Again, brind your own. The bathroom floor was mopped with something that was not rinsed becaue my shoes were squeeking and sticking to the floor. This is normally due to too much cleaner in the water and not rinsing it off. Not that it was not clean, it was just a bad experience. The bed looks good and sleeps good but the top sheet baerly covers the bed. It looks like it is for a twin size bed. It barely hangs over the edge by 3 inches. Concerning lighting again. The lighting over the dresser/fridge/TV area. The only light on that side of the room is the tiny little lamp on the desk. The area whole side of the room is in shadow and dim. You can't see anyting on the dresser or read the button on the microwave. The chair in the corner is broken down. You sink way down when you sit. There is no foot stool so it is very uncomfortable and as there is no other place to sit so you have no choice. Hubby propped his feet on our cooler. So your sitting options are a broken down chair, the desk or the bed. I know this sounds harsh but it is the truth. It is clean, the staff is great, the location is good, the bed sleeps well and it will continue to be our Knoxville / Strawberry Plains choice of hotel."
"Friendly service, breakfast was good (average offerings), and room was clean. The front desk computer was down, so I'm so glad I checked in on the app and got a digital key. Room could have been given some more attention ahead of arrival, as it was missing some towels. Parking was limited as a number of folks seemed to want to take up multiple spots for the night. Overall, okay place."
"Don’t usually feel compelled to write reviews, but this is a good place. Obviously well managed. Clean! The whole staff is courteous and ready to help. Our room was large than average with a big, new TV screen and big bathroom. Breakfast was about as good as you find in this kind of place…once again, staffed with a helpful, courteous hostess who kept breakfast items fresh and clean. I could go on, but you get the idea. We had a great overnight here."
