Reviews of John G Bergfeld Recreation Area
"This park has a lake you can go fishing or walking / jogging around it. it’s about a mile around. They have a bike Path but it’s only about 2 miles long. They have restrooms and water fountains here. And one shelter. Very nice place to go running or walking at. Across the road from the park there is a bike path if you go to the right in about a mile you’ll come to Arterial road. Turn left on Arterial road bike path and about 4 to 5 miles in this direction you will finally come to Heritage bike path. Heads up, Arterial Road is definitely a hill work out."
"I stopped here to walk the path and enjoy a beautiful afternoon afternoon. I saw people fishing, dog walking, and enjoying friendly conversations. Parking lot is tight, and some cars were parked directly across the street. Watch out for that protective Momma Goose who gave me warning hisses as I walked by her "post"!"
"Very nice walking path around the lake as well as some trails through the woods."
"This is a nice place to walk, ride a bicycle, etc specially if you like fall, leaves changing colors, ducks and other birds stopping there to go south for the winter. Part of the walkway can be secluded if you go down the path along Catfish Creek, but the main part is open and comfortable. It can get pretty windy there so maybe being a jacket or coat depending on the temperature. The walking area and lake are by Duluth Trading Distribution Center."
"This is one of the area parks that still sees new improvements on a regular basis with new paths and such being added on a regular basis. The area is great for hiking, fishing, or just seeing the pond wall kids play on the playground. Make sure to take a look at the bridgespan that's here as well as it's one of the original seven parts of the bridge that used to span the Mississippi for the train."
