"Jay was secured by our home inspector to inspect the pool at the house we were purchasing. However, he did not even inspect the most basic features of the pool, or if he did he didn't document major issues. Both skimmers, which are critical pieces and obvious points of inspection, were completely glued shut with winterizer plugs (this was in July) and inoperable. Additionally, there was an incredibly large leak that he made no mention of. Both of these together suggest he may have never even turned the pump on. He also took many days to even prepare the report so it is unknown if he had notes to rely on for a report in the first place. My realtor and myself made numerous communication attempts simply to ask questions about the issues and see if he could provide guidance on how we could repair and remedy the situation. After spending a substantial sum of money (and now have damaged skimmers from cutting) with more spending planned to fix egregious, basic items missed on inspection, we still have never heard a word from Jay. I would certainly advise you steer clear from any inspection services with him, and I would certainly think twice before handing him money to build a pool because you may never reach him again if you have a problem. Even if there weren't major issues, basic courtesy and professionalism should prompt someone to at least return someone's message, even if you intend to ultimately hide from responsibility. ***Update based on owner response for your consideration of using Custom Pools: 1. We paid Jay well for his inspection, however notice how he claims we do not rank as a customer. If we are not a customer I would like my money back please. 2. Notice how he advised he stated he is not willing to answer any customer questions or concerns about his work because he does not have time for you. You are clearly only a customer if you buy a whole pool not his inspection services. 3. Also note how he acknowledge Md he won’t respond to questions, but certainly has time to come after you for your review. 4.Skimmers are an above ground visible feature that were clearly sealed shut. I think a reasonable person would expect the skimmers to be looked at. Cracks in the concrete deck are evident, so the bar seems low here. No one said that the issues were expressly hidden, the alternative of substandard inspection was also noted. I’m glad you claim your pool customers are more important but I don’t think this inspires confidence in how they would expect to be treated either."

"Jay was excellent to work with, from design to completion. We had a general idea of what we wanted and Jay was able to walk us through design options. Throughout the process Jay would give us his recommendations based on years of experience in the business, what is best in Lubbock, and our personal needs. There were some slow times during the build process, but we were kept up to date, and unfortunately it is the times we are in with supply and demand. His team did an excellent job teaching us the equipment and how to care for the pool - this was out first gunite pool.
