"The apartment is amazing. I love the fixtures, appliances and spacious apartment. The floor plan is exactly what we were looking for and is worth the cost of rent. UPDATE 8/11: My packages were found and we are back in our parking spots in the garage. I am at peace now, and we still love our apartment unit so I am increasing my rating of Elan. ————————————————— The management failed to tell my husband and I that the parking garage would be under “maintenance” within a few days after move in. There were emails sent stating the “construction” would be done in one week and that we were to move our cars to a public mall parking lot until then. This was fine at first. Since then it has been 4 weeks with no end to construction in sight. I have not parked in my assigned spot since June 1 I sent an email last week and was told my email had been passed along to management and I would receive a reply. I did not so I followed up. They now replied and said that “the management will not be issuing refunds” and has refused to pro-rate my parking for the month because “this maintenance has to be done.” I wouldn’t usually be upset about something like this but we moved into this apartment because it HAS garage doors to keep the garage safe and secure. I am paying for a covered garage spot to keep my car out of the elements. My car has not been safe, secure or covered all month. It is not right that I am paying for a parking spot that I cannot use with no prior warning upon move in. Additionally specific “expensive” cars get to park in the future resident parking spots up by the entrance of the building during this construction but this was not offered to all. I have not been impressed with the management since I moved in. I just want what I am paying for! Additionally I had my dog’s bark box delivered and it was marked as put in a “parcel box” by USPS. I spoke to the mail carrier and he said if it says delivered it was delivered. The mail package room is a joke and my package was either lost or stolen."
"Bad experience with management team. I had lived in this apartment for 3 years. I was so excited to finally move out in last September. And if you’re looking for a new place to live please don’t choose here. 1. Poor management. Manager Mr. Spencer didn’t keep his promise that he will solve the bill issue for me. He promised me that he will follow up with me before I moved out. And I haven’t heard back from the management team for the past 2 months. They just don’t care about you. The front desk was always polite and kind. But they aren’t really helpful when you have something that needs to be solved. 2. There was at least 5 false alarm happened when I lived there. It happened way too frequently that I lost count. The unbearable siren woke us up in 3 am, 7 am. And serval happened during the day and night. I heard that it caused by some people smoked in the hallway. It happened too many times that the fire department didn’t come anymore. Like the boy who cried wolf (this comment was from other resident lol.) Then you can’t really stay in the unit while the siren goes off. It was way too loud. Above 2 things are what I can’t endure. Most of the bad reviews here are really what I also experienced during my lease. So I didn’t repeat them in my review. Please reconsider before you move in."
"Don't live here. My lease ended on July 31st 2022, but I moved out on July 5th 2022. I have paid the entire July lease and the apartment kept sending me bills to pay about 260 dollars (more than twice the average amount of my monthly utilities) on utilities from July 1st to August 5th, which no one lived there. I have emailed them every time I receive the bill and asked about the fees, but no one ever response to me."
"I went to tour Elan apartments. First I want to say such a clean apartment complex. Manager was so sweet and welcoming. After Lemane took me on tour and she was so informative, she answered all the questions I had and more, our experience was absolutely pleasant. Thank you!"
"Please do not rent at Elan. This would be a 0 star review if possible. We were the second tenants to move in to the building and it was initially a great community back in 2019. We decided to continue our lease, however, things turned very quickly to the point of us having to break our lease for safety and sanitary concerns in 2021. I will break some of it down: 1. CRIME. There were multiple instances where there were domestic disputes and the police there almost every other evening. This is public record - in the year 2021 alone there were 156 incidences where the Lombard Police were called to Elan....... 156! It is public record and do not try to let them tell you otherwise. Such included firearms and knives. You would wake up to cussing and screaming at 3am in the middle of the parking lot. I could go on and on about this. People would inform management, but nothing changed. Furthermore, just look at the reviews of stolen or "lost" packages.... 2. We had someone move in above us that would constantly and intentionally throw a medicine ball (or something equivalent) against the floor in the late evening or middle of the night. This happened numerous times and Elan was made aware of it. It cause damage to multiple things in our apt (pictures/glass falling from walls/shelves). Again, management did not do anything so we had to call the Police about it. The police even caught the tenant above us doing it again after they "left"... This never stopped until the day we moved out despite multiple conversations with management. 3. The dog park and community space was a great amenity. However, people would almost daily leave urine/feces in the hallways and elevators and not clean it up. There were many stains on the floor from it and it just got gross. 4. They changed the process for garbage to be disposed of (which was not unreasonable). However, people would still leave full garbage bags in the parking structure and stairwells... You can go back on to the community boards and see these complaints about garbage and pet feces over and over again. 5. We had multiple maintenance issues including the bathroom door not being able to close so they shimmed the plate... that's not how you fix that. There are so many other things I could mention, but you don't have the time for that. Just do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. Management is not helpful or responsive (again, read the other comments) and frankly, they change all the time. In my 2 years there were at least 3 different managers and over 6 new leasing staff. That alone should tell you something. Everyone I know from there left for the same reasons. Good luck finding a place, hope this helps you. Here are some picture to see for yourselves."
