About the Business
Community Action of Eastern Iowa is located at 1900 North 3rd Street in Clinton, Iowa, United States. We are dedicated to helping children, families, and individuals in Eastern Iowa by providing a range of services and support.
Our Head Start program offers high-quality, no-cost child care for children aged 0-5 years, with eligibility based on income requirements. If you do not qualify for Head Start, we can assist you in finding other child care providers that meet your needs.
Additionally, our Family Development and Self-Sufficiency program is available for those who receive Family Investment Program benefits or are income eligible. Our consultation services are free of charge and have no income guidelines.
For households with members over 60 or with disabilities, we offer energy assistance starting October 1st. If you are facing a utility disconnection, submit a service ticket and we will work to help you get reconnected or prevent disconnection altogether.
We also provide tips on energy conservation to help you save money, such as cold washing your laundry. Our goal is to make Eastern Iowa a better place to live, work, and enjoy life for all residents.
As the Community Action Agency for Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Counties in Iowa, we serve over 25,000 people annually. Join us in our mission to assist individuals and families in paying bills, improving their lives, and creating a brighter future for themselves and their children. "Beware of getting assistance from community action. They installed a faulty water heater for my mother and won't replace it. They told her it's her problem to replace now??? Nice program!"
"They really help me out of what I thought was an impossible situation. So grateful for these people."
"The staff is wonderful and the services they provide are but not limited to food pantry, LHEAP assistance, Goodwill vouchers, school supplies, and additional assistance programs and Grants. Income Guidelines and Verifications are required. The wait can also be up to an hour during certain times of the year. Check for Covid hours of operations to have changed."
"This place is so awesome for so many people. They help with heat assistance and help with light bills. The employees are so kind and helpful too. But I'm sorry to say that we went there to get a food box. We got handed a box and went home. It was pitiful. So next time we decided to just starve. :-( #GodBlessUsAll "
"Very very rude uncaring staff ecspecially front desk receptionist i have never in my life experienced anything like i did with this agency they treat people with no respect or compassion i guess i just feel if your going to work a job that helps people in a time of need you should at least have the decency to treat them like their human beings that need help a lot of people go through rough times but it doesn't help when your treated less than human just because someone needs a little help doesn't make them less than you ,nor should people be made to feel worse than they already do. So, just a friendly reminder ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY... Because really without people who need help your agency wouldn't even exist. I hope that the ladies who treated me trouble get to read this and remember people have feelings we are not bad people because we need help so maybe next time you'll consider what can you do to help someone feel better rather than laughing and enjoying hurting their feelings.... thank you ,shelly Hernandez Clark"
