About the Business
Scoville Park, located at 800 Lake Street in Oak Park, Illinois, is a popular tourist attraction and community gathering place. The park, open from sunrise to 10pm, features a playground open from sunrise to sunset, three tennis courts, a tot lot, and a large meadow perfect for Frisbee enthusiasts. The park is home to the World War I “Peace Triumphant” Monument, a focal point surrounded by a plaza area.
Originally designed by landscape architect Jens Jensen and purchased in 1912, Scoville Park turned 100 years old in 2012 and was named to the National Register of Historic Places. The park underwent a complete renovation in June 2013 as part of the Park District’s Capital Improvement Program. The main gateway to the park features a replica of the Horse Show Fountain, also known as the Wright-Bock Fountain, designed by sculptor Richard Bock and architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Originally built in 1909, the fountain was reconstructed and relocated in 1969. Scoville Park hosts various community activities and events, including weekly summer concerts, the Art in the Park Art Fair, and the annual Day In Our Village event. Reviews
"I’ve never attended a concert here but i walk the park and relax in the large grass field. It is a very well kept park right beside a fantastic library. Great place very young children to play, lots of room to run. There is enough room you get a few kids playing sports but no full on games."
"This is just a nice community space to hang out alone or with others. We were walking the path today and it was small enough to feel safe but large enough to get a good walk."
"Beautiful park with a library nearby and excellent dining options"
"I like this park very much. It has a big grassy area that I believe is a venue for concerts etc. Plenty of seating all around. Playground, tennis courts, restroom and best of all, it is beside the Oak Park Library. Another best thing is that it has WiFi!"
"Really clean bathrooms and a lot of room at the park to spread out. Very pleasant people in the area and we are just passing through so it was a nice break during a hot day."
