Brackenridge Park Golf Course is a historic institution located at 2315 Avenue B in San Antonio, Texas. It is the heart of the Alamo City Golf Trail, offering a fun city-park layout that is accessible to both locals and visitors. The course was restored in 2008 to its original 1916 layout by A.W. Tillinghast, making it a competitive option among San Antonio's premier golf courses.
In addition to golf, Brackenridge Park Golf Course is also home to the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, featuring the "Walk of Fame", the "Wall of Frames", and the Texas Tournament Trophy Room. The course has a rich history as the original site of The First Texas Open, which took place until 1940.
The institution was donated by George Washington Brackenridge, and has been a popular tourist attraction since its construction in 1915. The clubhouse, designed by Ralph H. Cameron, is a notable feature of the course. Nearby attractions include the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium, the Witte Museum, and the San Antonio Japanese Tea Gardens.
The Borglum Studio, once used by the sculptor of Mount Rushmore, offers a unique perspective on the 17th hole of the course. "Staff is always so accommodating. Pace of play was excellent. Greens is good shape. Give the fairways a couple of more weeks and they will have a lot more grass. Always fun to play such an iconic course."
"Classic Tillinghast design.Regarded by many as a top Municipal course in the US. Well bunkered and nice, demanding greens. Easy walking course...golf as it was before the cart became the norm. Shorter than the new designs, but the creek crossing and bunkers require one to play their game. And the Clubhouse is a fine old structure...The Texas Golf Hall of Fame is there too...but it was totally underwhelming. So much golf history in the Lone Star state and that is all they can come up with? Hopefully they will be working that out...Looks to be plenty of room for a nice museum in the beautiful old clubhouse...which is currently mostly vacant."

"Brackenridge Park Golf Course is a National golf treasure. Being long time fans of Harvey Penick's instructional books playing this course was a must for us on our day off here in San Antonio. This A.W. Tillinghast design was in great shape and hope to return again soon. The square tee boxes and greens were visually #FUN. All of the staff were friendly and they kept our coolers iced on a hot Texas day. We highly recommend planning a visit, this course is a bucket list box to check."
