"Despite numerous noise complaints made to management, nothing ever changes. The walls here are incredibly thin, making noise issues a HUGE problem. It would be different if noise complaints were addressed and remedied, but it appears that they are ignored entirely."
"Moving in, I had such high hopes for Germantown Mill Lofts—from the outside, it looks amazing. But unfortunately, the paper thin walls and complete lack of care on the part of management of policing noise issues make living here often unbearable. Even when noise complaints are made, nothing changes. If you try to call the “courtesy officer” during quiet hours, it is rare that anyone answers."
"I absolutely loved living here until I bought a house and decided not to renew my lease. Just a word to the wise if you rent here and don't stay more than a year you will end up getting charged for every nail hole "bigger than a pin hole" - direct quote from management. So either don't decorate, live here more than a year or only put up things with pins. When I left I cancelled my LG&E service and for some reason it never went through. So, long story short I am stuck with one months' electric bill for which I was not living there. They wouldn't even work with me to pay me back. Very sad. I definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone."
"We lived at GML for a little bit over a year and loved it. The entire complex is gorgeous and very well maintained. We lived on the third floor and it was accidentally the best decision because every time it rained you could hear it all, which was awesome. Maintenance and the front office are very responsive when needed too! The only down side were the noise levels of neighbors due to the thin walls. In some rooms I could hear entire conversations of my neighbors and I’m sure vise-versa. We had dogs, so the noise level of them bothering the neighbors was always something I stressed about too. All and all I would do it again in a heartbeat and I miss this place and it’s awesome windows!"
"Wanted to post a review specifically about living at GML with little kids in case anyone else was considering doing what we did. We lived at Germantown Mill Lofts for one year (2020-2021) with two young children and it was GREAT. There are few families that live in the complex (usually 2-3 at one time), but we never felt out of place and were welcomed by staff and residents. Our kids made lots of friends with others at the pool and in the courtyard, which are both great places to spend time with kids. The pool makes the summer bearable. There's usually lots of buff dudes and people sun tanning around the pool, but they don't seem to mind the kids splashing around. Walks in the neighborhood around GML felt safe and there were always interesting things to do and see (parks, watching trains and planes go by). Others have commented about the noise levels inside/outside the apartments and here's my take: it's fine and people complain too much. Noise from Goss Ave was not a problem, we all got used to the noise of the traffic going by. Trains did not bother us at all (did not affect naps or sleeping), although our apartment was further away from the train tracks than most. Noise from neighbors does travel through the walls and especially the floor/ceiling, but not to the degree that it bothered us much. HIGHLY RECOMMEND that families with young children ONLY consider 1st floor units, as the noise from them running around would be very loud to any neighbors living underneath. We made the kids' bedroom work by using a bunk bed for the kids (see pic). We also got a small table that fit into the "world's smallest dining room" and it worked fine for us for the entire year. Hallways were good for walking/playing soccer during the winter months when it was too cold to go outside. The ONLY suggestion I have for improving GML is to bring back recycling!!! It's unbelievable that recycling is not currently an option and residents have to take their own recyclables to the city recycling dumpsters. To summarize: Living with kids at GML was great, would highly recommend!"
