"Our fur baby, Hoosier, recently had surgery here and Dr. Ball and everyone at Medvet were absolutely AMAZING! They are so kind and compassionate. They take the time to answer your questions and really walk you through the process. Before, during and after. I love that they let you know when your pet is being prepped and they touch base with you once they're in recovery. I also love that they follow up with you even after you have returned home to check on your fur baby! It shows that they really care! They truly go above and beyond and it's really appreciated! This isn't the first time we've brought Hoosier here and every time we do bring her in it's the same amazing experience. Keep up the great work you guys! We will always recommend them! Thank you again, Dr. Ball and team!!!!!!!!"
"My dog is currently hospitalized at Medvet Carmel. The ladies at the front desk were so sweet, as well as the vet techs that I talked to. I felt so comfortable and safe leaving him there. All of the staff I talked to were wonderful, highly knowledgeable, I was walked through a plan of care. No where beats this place for emergencies. I went to a different small animal vet in westfield before this, and it was absolutely awful, with no sense of urgency that we decided to leave and rush him to medvet, they pulled him back instantly as I was still checking in at the front desk! I would highly recommend MedVet to anyone with an emergency. I know my boy is in good hands and I’m hoping I get to pick him up this evening❤️"
"Tonight we had to unexpectedly lay our sweet cat to rest due to heart failure. We came here for a second opinion, and Dr. Goad, Harlie and Amanda at the front desk could not have been more compassionate. They immediately made our sweet boy comfortable, and then told us the diagnosis and recommendations. They gave us time with him beforehand, during and plenty after to love on him. He was never alone or without affection from staff or his Mama and Dad. We cannot express enough our gratitude for the dignified way he left us. And for your sincere compassion and caring for him. It was an honor to share his final moments with you. Thank you for all that you do, for putting the well-being of animals at the forefront. God bless you."
"I took my cat here in January of 2019 on a recommendation from Hamilton Hills, after she'd been getting into bad sneezing fits for quite some time. She was diagnosed with lymphoma here, and Dr. Owens prescribed a steroid for her to fight off some of the cancer cells, giving her a maximum of 6 months to live. There was a tumor in her nose, and she had so much nasal congestion that she couldn't smell her food, and consequently refused to eat it... so I had to force feed her wet food for a few weeks. Finally, one day it seemed like her illness and starvation had caught up to her, as she would just lie in one place all day and barely acknowledge us anymore. She couldn't hop onto furniture anymore like she'd loved doing. In the nick of time, I heard her eating from her bowl again one day, and she continued to eat her way back to health over the coming weeks. Amazingly, she's still alive and well over 5 years later... and other vets are absolutely baffled. We owe a great debt to Dr. Owens!! My only word of caution is the high cost of some procedures. We have to pay quite a bit once a year for her bloodwork. I wanted to give 4.5 stars for that reason, but obviously would've had to knock off an entire star instead... in the end, I had to give 5 since this place practically raised my cat from the dead."
"$$$ - Calling ahead for an emergent very sick dog, I was warned the basic exam fee was twice what I was used to paying. Informed of costs of various lab options in the treatment plan, I was able to ask for what I could afford and avoid any surprises. I appreciate directness. At times you can walk in and wait an hour. My dog was triaged at the front counter, but Friday night was a rush with an unknown wait time and a few genuine emergencies jumping the line. Great waiting area divided into cubicles for family to wait or cranky dogs to isolate. I found a couple of outlets to plug in and recharge my phones. Amazing policy to allow a 3-day window to return with the pet and be seen again without an additional $161 charge for re-exam. Great people at the front counter were efficient and attentive. I hate smarmy staff gushing at me insincerely, but this place trains its staff better: I loved my dog being addressed to give me information, staff talking to my dog to apologize for the wait, telling him he was being so patient, a manner I've never seen before. On a Friday dinner time, when VCA was slammed with 8-9 hr wait times, it took 7 hrs to get out of MedVet but my dog was checked on several times to make sure he wasn't crashing, and I was encouraged by staff to come up to the front counter to notify if he was getting worse. 24 hrs later he is well on the mend and I feel like we got excellent service. Soda machine and bottled water bonus."
