"I rented a dolly from this Menards. Admittedly, I was a week late in returning it. I rented it because I was moving to Carmel. I forgot to return it because I was moving on my own that week, getting situated, working full-time, and am a single father. It was an honest accident. It was sitting behind one of the cars in the garage and was kinda out of sight out of mind. Still a mistake. I get a call from the police absolutely berating and being overall disrespectful and rude. They were calling me a thief and saying they were going to arrest me. They talked down to me the whole time and tried to pin me with some rhetorical nonsense. "How come you didn't return it earlier." To which I replied "That's the nature of forgetting." They gave the phone to the rental manager and boy was he smug. He knew he could get me arrested and used that to take that "teacher/authority" tone without me being able to say much else. I was pinned. "You knew it was due last week. No excuses make up for it. It's considered stolen property. Are you going to return today or not? If not, you'll be arrested." By the way, he called me twice that day during which I had 4 hours of back to back meetings. The first call I get after those meetings (before I could even check my voicemail) it was the cops. Whoa. They were ready to ruin someone's life over a $250 dolly which my overdue rental dues were like $100. Ready to arrest customers over $100. I missed an important meeting to run home and return it immediately and pay the late fees. It wasn't a problem at all. Mind you, I've spent over $100,000 easily at Menards through one of my previous LLCs (different location) between 2014-2015. We were renovating a small apartment complex. So I've been a decent customer. Not that that should matter. This was so humiliating and embarrassing. I wonder if my name popped up on the screen "Juan Lopez" and they immediately thought criminal or something because this a crazy overreaction I think. It would be nice to know how many customers get the cops called on them yearly for something like this, how they choose whom to call the cops on, if they have a policy for this, and if they follow it correctly. I've called and left a few messages and no one has returned my call. I didn't want trouble or legal threats or anything but I wanted to let them know that they went nuclear for no reason, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a prejudiced decision, and how to prevent someone else from going through that."
"It took 25 minutes for 2 Menard employees to find my order. Then they tried to convince me that it was my fault that the order was misplaced because I order the products on 12/29/23 and it was more than 10 days. I told them that I ordered it 12/29/23, but did not get an email that my order was ready until 1/12/24. Too make mattters worse, one of them told me that I shouldn't be upset. I asked "if you had to stand around doing hothing for 25 minutes would you be upset". His reply was "I do that all day long". Then that same Menards employ handed me then Order Pickup receipt and said "your welcome", like he did me some favor. As I was walking away, he continue this sarcassm by loudly saying "Have a nice day!" and again few sceonds later "Have a nice day!". This is not the first time this Menards had a difficult time finding an online order. I will NEVER order anything online at this Menards again, and likely will not use Menards online order website."
"Menards has been a go-to store for me for major appliances and all sorts of home needs. Recently I needed to resolve a refrigerator warranty issue, and the manager (Ian) was EXTREMELY helpful, apologizing for the issue, taking initiative to contact the warranty vendor, and just generally putting my mind at ease about getting this taken care of. I can't imagine how busy he must be, so this is very much appreciated. I highly recommend this store."
"Ian S. the Manager there kicked us out for having a service animal with an emotional support collar that clearly says Support Animal. He approached us menacingly and stated, “You need to leave! That dog is not a service animal! He is growling at me! That is not a service animal! You need to leave!” Well no kidding - he is growling at you because you are threatening. What a jerk he was to my wife and I. Had to follow us all the way out to the exit too. I’ve been a loyal customer of Menards Terre Haute for 20 years until we moved to Westfield- where they have this long hair , hoola hoop eyed, chicken neck lookin Jive Turkey. I will Never step foot in that pathetic store again, and no don’t both responding with the ol sorry you had a bad experience, please email our manager Ian. Ian obviously has no decency or respect for any customers. Lowe’s don’t bother me about my harmless service dog, and most importantly they offer a military discount and treat you like a human being. Good bye Menards-"
"5 stars because of 2 very helpful, honest staff members. Tripp helped me find what I needed. Ian found my credit cards’ wallet and kept it in the safe. I was very thankful."
