"I had a terrible experience with The Lumen Hotel. I was incorrectly charged a service fee, and it took four days of continuous calls to reach the manager, Tanya. Despite explaining my situation, Tanya failed to call me back as promised. After persistent efforts, she acknowledged the error but didn't resolve it promptly. Tanya assured me the service fee would be reversed, but subsequent follow-ups were met with delays and unfulfilled promises. She mentioned involving the accountant, but after leaving a message, no callback ensued. Despite Tanya's assurances, the issue remains unresolved, and I haven't heard back from her or the accountant. I also wanted to address a subpar room and bathroom experience but never had the opportunity. I flew in for high-profile clients who recommended The Lumen as a last minute stay and the experience has left me dissatisfied. My future trips to Dallas I will explore alternative accommodations like The Hilton Dallas/Park Cities, Rosewood Mansion, The Warwick, or Hotel ZaZa."
"When the most recent 3 months of reviews are so bad, you abandon your Priceline purchase because they refused to refund you so you can rebook elsewhere... this is NOT the type of hotel that should be run down in some rooms with wet carpets, broken thermostats, poor soundproofing with noisy parties, ice cold showers that don't work, and unclean common areas without coffee cups... on top of careless managers and apparently staff that are just as lacking. I'll take my loss and never fulfill my reservation and I'll take all my future money elsewhere, Priceline."
"The hotel and the rooms need a lot of updating. Towel rack was coming off the wall, the light for the closet would randomly come on, the walls are pretty thin and you can hear people next door, the trim in the suite room was coming off as well as the coffee table had broken feet so it wobbled, etc. The staff however were amazing. Always friendly and answered any questions we had. The location is great as well."
"I so badly wanted to give this an extra star, but just couldn’t justify it. Overall, it was ok but I won’t be staying here again. Positives: Cleanliness Location Decent gym (but fills up with just 3 people) Negatives: Loud - no sound barrier from all way so we heard every door slam bright and early every day Room functionality - this wouldn’t be a problem for one person, but for two people, the barn door bathroom and sink being in the main living space just didn’t work. No way to deter light or sound at night. Service. Staff, especially the front desk was rude and unprofessional."
"I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to share our experience. We stayed at The Lumen, Dallas, for 2 nights. The base room rate for a king bed was $359/night plus taxes/ fees, plus mandatory valet of about $36/night. The valets were nice. The location is great! When we entered our room, there were two bottles of water with a $5 sticker on the cap, really?! There was only one robe provided in the closet, which had not been well-painted inside. There were two closets as well as two drawers below each closet. We put out the door tag for the room to be serviced on day 2, but housekeeping never came. I took a roll from the housekeeping cart & when a maid arrived, I asked if I could have an additional washcloth because our room had been missed, she was really nice, handed me the washcloth & stated she would be off work soon. Breakfast the first morning consisted of coffee with grounds in it & a to go cup of lukewarm coffee, two others we talked to experienced the same thing. The hot breakfast that you also pay for was not good, but the fresh fruit was quite good. The coffee service in the room included an electric teapot with “The Graduate” blend of instant coffee in regular & decaf. The decaf grounds were stuck together & only partly dissolved, the coffee was not good in the room either. If you need to do any work, bring your own lighting, as the lighting in the room consisted of two nightstand lamps & on small desk lamp, there was no lighting in the area of the couch. The restroom & dressing area had great overhead lighting. The “artwork” on the wall consisted on one metal print that was uninspiring. However, the pillows & bedding were nice & comfortable, we slept well. The pool was closed for the installation of a canopy over it. On our second morning we could not take a hot shower before our flight, because the hot water had not worked since at least 11PM the night before. The young man at the front desk was very nice, but indicated that he was not empowered to resolve a room credit due to the missing hot water. The manager did not come on duty until 7AM, so we were unable to speak due to the time of our flight. I requested that an adjustment be made to the room bill, but since another person was paying for our room, I don’t know if that happened. There was a 7-11 a couple hundred feet away along with several restaurant options, SMU was across the street. If location is important, The Lumen is a great location. If you have expectations of what a $400+/night stay should be, this is not your place."
