"I have lived here at Crosstown for 7 wonderful years. My apartment is comfortable and enjoyed! BUT, the management team can be horribly uncaring. They do not know how to speak to seniors with respect. They seem to think most of us are doddering old people on the brink of dementia. I found out that Kalamazoo Public Safety do not have the ability to enter the building. No no not possible. I am lying on the floor in pain call 911 but I am not able to buzz them in. Why should I have to? Emergency services should be able to enter easily! Why?"
"Very, very bad place. I have worked in "Assisted Living" places before (read: "old folks homes" (that's the way one of the employees labeled this place when I spoke with them.) I work in a business in close proximity to this place. So obviously, I see many residents on walks, walking their dog, walking with their grand kids, or more to the point why I gave it one star, I have frequently encountered residents who have no idea where they are, what they are doing, and they are asking me for help. (To help them find their way back to their home, how I can help get their kids to call them, down to how I can help then pick up their pet canines fecal matter.) what I mean is that there seem to be a lot of residents who need more help than this place is capable or willing to give them. The one reason they get one star though, is that there was one time I encountered a woman walking her dog. She had no idea where she was, what year it was, what day it was, all she knew is that she was making sure her pet daschound/pug mix was well fed, that she (the dog) was safe, and that she(the human) was safe. She asked me why her kids hadn't called, why she couldn't get a hold of her doctor, why the building managers wouldn't help her clean up the trash in the hallway outside her apartment (meaning they don't even do basic janitorial work it seems), and really she was just scared and confused and didn't know what to do. They did not help with this at all. After I walked her back to the building (and making sure that yes, she was in fact a resident there - I'm not just gonna walk a dementia patient to someones house and be all "Here ya go!" without any certification.) After going out of my way for this woman, who, by the way, she instigated this conversation. I wasn't like "Hey, old person! I want to waste two hours of my time! come on over!" After asking if this woman was suitable for a living situation like this I was told to never talk to her or any of their residences again, I was threatened and told to "butt out" or they would call the cops. The woman came to me for help, she was lost, and I was threatened with legal action because while helping her I inquired into their business practices. Please, please, please if you are looking for somewhere to move, or for somewhere for your parents or any other loved ones to move - please DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE"
"Wonderful staff, beautiful grounds and great apartments. I have found my forever home."
