"If you're thinking about staying here, don't. I asked at check in if I could use any of the discount codes I constantly receive via email. The front desk clerk said no, I'd have to do that online. Ok, fine, whatever. Upon going up to the room, I noticed a strong musty odor as soon as I stepped in the room. The top of the refrigerator was dirty and so were the inside of the bottom cabinets. A cockroach was found in the trash can, and another fell out of the cabinet above the sink. I found live bedbugs in the room later in the evening. I promptly checked out and went home. I should have known bedbugs were a problem since the furniture in the room is plastic/metal, but I didn't think anything of it when making a reservation. I was told "management calls out pest control (if a guest complains about roaches/bedbugs), but they don't really do anything other than that." Please note you also don't get a full refund if you check out after 6pm, no matter if you checked in earlier that day. Save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else."
"Although the staff was friendly and had good customer service the hotel in general is filthy. It’s infested with cockroaches and small flying insects, I clean my room daily and still have a horrible problem of having to kill cockroaches and flying bugs daily. I had to go buy cleaning products upon my arrival. My room smelled of very strong urine and the grounds are completely covered in dog feces. Terrible condition."
"Good location - near several shopping centers, restaurants and main roads. The manager, Shanece Stansberry refuses to enforce the handicap parking law, and allows guests, visitors and employees to illegally park in handicap spots, even after being apprised of the problem. Per the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, she is required to have illegally parked vehicles towed, but refuses to do so. When a handicapped guest inquired of those people who have neither a handicap license plate or placard (which by Michigan law, are required to be displayed on the review mirror or on the left-hand corner of the vehicle's dashboard), as to whether or not they are allowed to park in those spots, said guest(s) are accused of harassment toward those in question, and are forced to leave the premises (gladly!!).. nor does she enforce the Michigan Noise Ordinance and other hotel 'rules' with certain guests and employees! The rooms are barely cleaned between guests - floors are dirty, cupboards not wiped clean on the inside! The maintenance man, 'Robbie' was an absolute gem, taking care to make sure sidewalks were shoveled and salted after it snowed, along with always taking care of any maintenance problem promptly and cheerfully! (We assume that because of the nonsense and nefarious activity rampant at the hotel, he put in his 2-week notice to leave his employment there, which is unfortunate as he was a wonderful, kind, cheerful, helpful, hard-working employee!) There appears to be racial bias between the management and certain guests. Unless you are of a certain mentality similar to many of the guests and employees, you'd be better off finding an Airbnb somewhere else!"
"Arrived on Friday for 2 nights. I was leary on booking here because of reviews and people saying the had roaches in room. But gave benefit of doubt. Person at counter was very nice. She wanted all 10's. Went to room. Seemed to be clean. We were in room 233. Friday night was very nice and I slept well. Nice and quiet. However, in bathroom I saw a clump of hair on floor. Was gross but picked it up. Also saw a dead bug on floor. Ended up being a roach. Saturday night was in bathroom and I called my fiance in and asked him what was crawling on tub. He said it was a roach with an egg. He killed it. Later on he seen another. Went to sleep to waking up with a mouse in wall trying to get out. I think this place needs to be cleaned daily to prevent roaches. I liked it very much til this happened."
"The sink and shower water were brown! My experience at this hotel was terrible from start to finish. When we entered the lobby it reeked of marijuana smoke. When we entered our room, the room was clean but looked very depressing. When I turned the shower on, the water that came out was a disgusting brown. It took 5-10 seconds for the brown color to go away completely. The next morning, the sink in the bathroom did the same thing. After 7am, our room filled with the smell of marijuana smoke and it was so nauseating that we had to leave. As we exited the hotel, the smell of marijuana smoke was intense since two people were parked right outside the front entrance and were smoking. I contacted the hotel to report my terrible experience, but never heard back from them and we couldn't report our concerns to a staff member because there was no one working at the front lobby when we left. Absolutely terrible experience!"
