"The current management/office staff at The Landings at Notre Dame is wonderful. They've shown more patience and understanding than should be expected. Communication is made and issues are resolved in a courteous and timely manner. I see the lower reviews are about not being allowed to leave things in the hallway or fees against security deposits. The hallway does not belong to tenants! I don't want to deal with bikes, strollers, shoes, or shelving in the hallways. A hallway or under a stairwell is not space being rented. How can we expect these areas to be cleaned and maintained when our belongings are there? The staff does a nice job of communicating these issues to tenants. We're given ample time to correct the issues. It does affect the ability to keep these areas clean. It is a fire safety issue. We all need to keep our belongings in the space we rent! Security deposits are subject to fees. The fees are in our leases. How can we blame the office staff or management for this when we all received and signed the leases? Those leaving low reviews need to assess what the problems really are. I believe the tenants leaving low reviews are the tenants believing that the rules don't apply to them. If we are following the rules laid out and adhering to the terms of our lease, we won't have these complaints. Be respectful of the common spaces, and don't complain about things we all signed on for in our leases. Appreciate the staff doing all they can to keep The Landings a pleasant place to live."
"I am so glad there is stable office staff to regulate the previous chaos. I believe many that are leaving negative reviews simply disregard the policy and the lease and believe they have the right to do whatever they want without consequences. This staff has repeatedly asked everyone to follow the same rules. I see nothing wrong with that and to be honest I am tired of looking at the shoes and kids items overtaking my hallway every time I open my door. We keep our items inside our home and see no reason others can't do the same. I appreciate the effort of these people working at The Landings. When I had a true emergency they responded timely, kept in touch, and corrected the issue within hours. Having people around that actually care is definitely NOT a bad attribute. I love it here and will be staying at The Landings until graduation and would recommend The Landings to anyone!"
"I use to love the landings, and viewed it as an extension of the very family friendly atmosphere of Notre Dame. However, it has become such a difficult place to have a family. I have a newborn and a 1 1/2 year old and rely on a stroller to transport them since my husband is often gone during the day. Within the last year, they no longer allow strollers or bikes to be stored in the area underneath the stairs. They have given different reasons ranging from fire hazard to needing the halls to be open for cleaning. However, the floors are disgusting and have not been cleaned since this summer. The area under the stairs isn’t in the path of travel. Yet, they still remove any items from there. Unfortunately, the apartments are very small (especially for a family) so there is not room to store them inside. I am disappointed in both their stroller policy and how it was communicated. I wish they allocated some of the time spent roaming the halls to grab strollers/bikes/personal items to cleaning the hallway floors."
"After an incredibly great experience during our first two years here, I have to leave a 1 star review. We raved about this place to incoming ND families and recommended it to many but after recent policy changes our experience has been sadly much different. What was once a very friendly and family oriented facility now feels like a hard place to live with a family at. One example is that they no longer allow strollers to be stored under the stairwell (which is hidden and tucked away completely out of everyone’s way that walks through the hallway) making it impossible to take my 4 month old daughter for walks without the help of my husband to carry the stroller down three flights of stairs (who is at school during the day so he is rarely around to help with this)."
"I was charged cleaning and painting for normal wear and tear after move out. I asked for reasons and got some move out inspection pictures. But all of them are just normal wear and tear. I have cleaned the unit and never get any notice about their unfair deduction. The condescending leasing office only said:”Normal wear and tear are things that you can't repair yourself. Your unit was left dirty and therefore not in the condition that you were told to leave it in. “ I took a video when I moved out and they called it messed up. Honestly, the leasing office messed up!"
