The Avanti House

"The house is outdated. The location on Chapin smelled like an old basement. The sheets on my bed were dirty as if they were left on the bed from the previous person. The house keeper is very rude. She tried opening my door several times before it was checkout time and did not even attempt to knock first. I paid good money to stay there, and the woman who goes by, “ Cassandra”, who apparently oversees all the bookings, is so cheap with snacks, she failed to restock the snacks while I stayed. In a passive manner, she had the house keeper put a empty plastic container out, in place of the snacks. I was assuming it was for someone to put money in? I was confused. I pay 80.00 dollars a night to stay in an old dingy bedroom with no Tv and the house had no breakfast, but you can’t put new snacks out? It was interesting today the least. There are other tenants that live in the Thomas street location that I also believe are using drugs. One woman kept sneaking in and out of the house. I ran into her in the main room downstairs, she saw me, ran the other way. Then I saw her again and she had her hood on, covering her entire face (like Kenny from South Park) and tried hiding herself. Very bizarre environment. Will not ever book again. Also, on Expedia, they advertise a picture of a beautiful fountain, in addition to other attractions in south bend, that are nowhere near the hotel. Don’t believe everything you see with Avanti House!"

"Very clean, quiet and affordable. Minutes away from everywhere we wanted to be. Fast wifi let us work from the Avanti house. Would definitely stay again."

"Very cute and affordable! It's rare to find a place like this nowadays, I definitely recommend checking it out! I had a private room, with access to a shared kitchen and living spaces. Very conveniently located by the museums and within walking distance from downtown/restaraunts."

"House was overall clean and quiet, and I felt safe here. Only thing is the trash in my room hadn’t been emptied from previous guests, but everything else in the room was clean and tidy. Water pressure was great too! It’s a quirky house with plenty of neat things to read about if you want - I was here for work and didn’t spend much time exploring. Great value for the money too."

"Just finished a week-long stay at the Avanti House. It was my second time (was here last year). I am just so taken with the place. Wonderful suite, comfortable and well appointed. In a prime location, not only within walking distance to downtown, but a beautiful walk at that down Washington Street. Plus next door to the South Bend and Studebaker museums. The hosts are most gracious and welcoming. Planning my return trip now."
