"From my experience, choosing to reside at the University Edge Apartment has proven to be one of the most gratifying decisions I made since arriving in the States. From the shuttle service operated by Sharon and Houssan to the exceptional top management team comprising of Jackie, Alejandra, and KC, along with the maintenance team, collectively they have been phenomenal in their deliveries. The maintenance team exhibits remarkable swiftness in their response times, and they get the job done. Alejandra stands out as a beautiful soul, demonstrating excellence in the way she discharges her duties and relates with people. Interestingly, the environment is very neat as well, and the apartment was fully cleaned and ready as promised before move-in day. In addition, I am blessed to have the best and understanding flatmates (friends and brothers). Overall, the management at UEdge has so far kept to their terms of service and has equally met and exceeded my expectations. As a result, I am delighted to be residing here, and I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking accommodation in this vicinity. Kings'"
"Please do not move in here! I wish I read the reviews before moving in. The management sucks and they do not clean the apartments inbetween people so you have to make sure you deeply clean before moving in here. You will be charged randomly, and to be honest to live in south bend isn't this expensive especially with roommates. There are cheaper places to stay with better management. No one knows what they are doing at the office, but thankfully Alejandra has been very helpful. Other than that you will have a hard time getting a hold of jackie. I believe the other 5 stars that are given in the reviews are FAKE. Everyone I have talked to that stays here said they have had an awful experience. Please do not sign a lease here, you will have to stay for the whole year."
"Absolutely do not rent here. Upon move in, the apartment was filthy. It was clear that no staff or cleaning service had step foot in the apartment between my move in and the old tenants moving out. Staff was alerted and said that I would be compensated via rent adjustments for the first month. Of course that never happened and I was redirected and ignored upon many attempts to follow up on that. No adjustments were made and the complex has no problem adding random charges to your rent despite you telling them that you want to opt out of the "optional" charges such as RentPlus and other fees. The office is unprofessional and loves to ignore calls during business hours, promise to call you back (they don't), and communication is lacking. This is also not student housing like advertised. There are many families and adults who live there."
"Do not rent here. They refuse to clean apartments between renters, South Bend locals (not just University students) live here and often trash the place and disrespect the students. My apartment has a resident who refuses to clean and Management's response was for me to either clean up after him or risk getting fined after I leave. The bus is down at least once a week and management is rude. Terrible terrible place. Doing my best to alert other students as well and working to get the complex marked as a "Do not rent site" for incoming students."
"I am quite fed up with University Edge, and I am writing this review to give potential residents a clear picture of what it is like to live here. Just today, one of the members of their “very responsive” team entered my apartment for the 5th “inspection” since the end of April. When I questioned why the need to enter my personal space so many times, he answered that it is due to the higher turnover of residents in the last month. I rent both bedrooms, nobody moved in our out of my place, so no, you do not need to enter my personal space for the 5th time in 2 months. He also took pictures of my place with all of my stuff lying around everywhere; I did not consent to that, neither was it mentioned in the email that was sent out stating that this inspection was to take place. If this is not a violation of privacy, I don’t know what is. When I raised my concerns to the member of the UEdge team who came to do the inspection, he told me that he would “love” to address my concerns at the office and then never got back to me. Since this is not the first time that I have not heard back from the UEdge team regarding my concerns, here they are in writing with pictures: 1. My place was filthy when I moved in; I spent hours scrubbing grease off the cabinets above the stove, the stove itself, and the stickers off the mirrors in the bathrooms left by the previous tenants. The state of the apartment was documented in the move in inspection, UEdge did nothing about that. 2. Cheap furniture: the mattress is so hard, the springs gave me bruises the first time I slept on it. Also, please see below a picture of a wooden rocking chair that is supposed to be your desk chair. Dear UEdge team, have you tried sitting in this chair for hours to do work? 3. Thin walls: you hear everything your neighbours are doing at all hours of day and night, including going to the bathroom at 3 am, closing kitchen cabinets, walking around etc. 4. Poor grounds maintenance: below you can see pictures of a garbage pile that accumulates every week all year round (btw residents pay extra $10 per month for trash removal service); snow removal is very poor, below you can see what the stairs look like in the winter; good luck digging your car out as well. 5. Free shuttle to campus is a joke; what they do not tell you is that it will not run during holidays, study breaks or during the summer, so it only runs September – mid May; what they also do not tell you is that it breaks down every other week and when it does, they rent the cheapest van possible that is not big enough to accommodate everyone taking the shuttle. If you are going to rent the place out for the entire year and advertise a free shuttle to campus, then make sure that it runs for the duration of the year. This information was definitely not communicated to me when I signed the lease. 6. Continuous harassment to resign the lease: starting in October, they start emailing, calling, texting you to resign the lease. This went on until April despite me saying several times that I had no interest in renewing to several members of their team. UEdge is not a luxury apartment complex, it is no better than a student dorm. If you don’t care what you sleep/sit on, cleanliness of your apartment when you move in, a garbage pile outside of your window, digging out your car in the winter, and random people constantly entering your private space, then feel free to rent here. And, no, dear UEdge management team, I have no interest in “sitting down to discuss my concerns” with you anymore, clearly you had no interest in listening previously. Can’t wait to move out!"
