"MVP bought Central Animal Hospital ("CAH") in Scarsdale NY from its founding vet very recently (2021 or 2022). I'm giving MVP 2 stars rather than 1 star, because it hasn't entirely ruined CAH as others have described in their reviews about other vet clinics around the country--yet! Most of the CAH vets I know remain. I'm a long-time client, have brought dogs + cats over the years, and invested $1,000s of dollars with CAH. Yesterday, I brought a cat to CAH for follow-up after a visit to a specialist. I was surprised to find I'd wiped out my checking account paying for chemotherapy (at a specialty vet) for another animal who sadly died after her last chemo treatment last week. Predictably, I'm exhausted from driving back & forth to the veterinary oncologist, and grieving, and hadn't looked at my bank balance. So I promised to pay the $400 balance (just for an exam and blood! Whew!!) to CAH the following day, in just 24 hours. An ethical, successful business would quickly grant this COMMON PROFESSIONAL COURTESY, especially to a client of many years who had invested $1,000s of dollars with the company, and who clearly has the financial resources to continue to invest more. In fact, several times, I've left without paying immediately, and settled the bill in a few days. But that was befors MVP. TAKE NOTICE, MVP: Extending a courtesy to a good customer is an investment in a continued, mutually profitable relationship, a view to a happy future together. Nope. I had to talk to their Practice Manager, a young woman clearly without the mature perspective to extend a standard professional courtesy. When I said I was a long time client who had spent $1,000s, she had to look up my payment history. She argued with me! She finally said she would hold the blood assay until I paid. Now, working in medicine myself, I know the blood specimen cannot be held before undergoing testing for more than 12 hours, so the proposal was a non-starter. Upshot? I paid about $100 for the exam and they threw the blood out. The receptionist said he'd heard blood could be held for 5-7 days, but snobby as it may seem, I didn't have confidence in the receptionist's medical credentials. HEADS UP, MVP: So CAH/MVP got just $100 and is at risk of losing a good customer for their ignorance of good business manners. How many other customers will be scared off by their brutishness? I imagine at some point in the history of American business culture, there will be a reckoning, when desperate, failing businesses once again realize the wisdom of the old saw, "The customer is always right." But it's not happening today. Not as long as someone, somewhere, far, far away (MVP in Southfield, MI) from the store (CAH in Scarsdale, NY) is getting very rich."
"Sell, sell, sell! Brought my dog into the clinic in Ocala, FL, where I had taken her several times prior to this corporation buying the clinic. There were young vets who owned and worked in the clinic; the doctors were caring and fair. That's gone now. My dog was very sick and the clinic made an appointment for 1:30. They charged me $96, for an emergency visit, even though they made an appointment for her. Next, they ignored the fecal sample I brought, and recorded a symptom that she didn't have and performed several hundred dollars of unnecessary tests based upon the diagnosis made on information made up by a receptionist. Then when none of the medicine associated with the incorrect diagnosis worked, they charged me another $60 to see her again, and $80 for the fecal test. Turns out her symptoms were common for hook worms, which she actually had. They kept the fecal sample for a month before processing it. So I paid nearly $1,000 for the misdiagnosis. Sell, sell, sell! The tests had a mark-up of up to 400%. Any refund or relief from the medication she took for three weeks and didn't need? Nope. As one of the employees said, the clinic is all about making lots of money for the corporation, and the best way to gouge customers by selling as many expensive tests as possible."
"I am working with a great group of people and the leadership of MVP care about the people and hospitals of Mission Veterinary Partners. This is not a typical corporation. Their focus on employee well-being, employee compensation, continual quality improvement, and best medicine is evident."
"MVP is a awesome corporation that shows that they care about their employees. MVP have a lot of services to help out their staff and mental health is a big one that a lot of corporations brush under the rug or ignore. MVP has service and great benefits that staff have access to."
"I have been in this industry now going on 20y. I take great pride in the facility that I choose to become my next home away from home. I chose to come work alongside Belmont and MVP due to our current manager. I was able to have the pleasure of working along side my current manager at my previous location for over 10 years. I moved from Dallas Texas to NashvilleTN just to be able to continue to learn and join this amazing company that is spoke so highly of. The guidance and dedication the doctors and management staff brings to our team is unlike any other!!! The entire MVP team from the top down have been great. I can truly tell how much you all care for your employees. I love love where I work and look forward to many more years to come. The ENTIRE Belmont Animal Hospital team is truly outstanding and hands down the BEST teamwork I have EVER witnessed in my 20y!!! I could not be more happy with the choice I made and moving family to be apart of this! Thank you "
