Reviews of Monumental Movieland Hotel
"Upon arrival, we went to check in for a regular room with two full beds. Fortunately, no one was in line at the front desk. Our situation was slightly complex so we were expecting the check-in to take a couple extra minutes. After about 15 minutes, we were checked in, tired, and ready to go to bed. At that time, there were now 4 groups in line behind me. When we finally got up to the room, it had clearly not been cleaned by the staff as there was garbage left and unmade beds. Frustrated, we walked back to the front desk to tell them what we had found. The same 4 people were still in line and we now had to wait behind them to get a clean room. After about another 10 min, the line had not moved, and another worker came to help at the front desk. The first person in line was checking in, and the second needed more towels so they gave them 4 which was nice. The third person was asking if they were planning on having someone come up to their room to fix their hot water (he told me that they reported it the previous night and they still have not fixed it), and we had a room that was not turned over. Finally, we got up to the counter again and explained our situation. At that point we could see how frustrated the front desk people were because of a broken system and the poor quality cleaning employees who made them look bad (we kind of felt bad because it was not their fault). They did eventually get a second room for us and we were on our way, again, now really tired and ready for bed. We walked to the new room, relieved to have a room that was in clean order, only to find that they gave us a room with one king bed. We were now heading back to the front desk for the third time in a row. We explained that we booked a room with 2 beds and after a couple minutes, we had a third room. Finally, we are actually in a CLEAN (ish) room that had been turned over by staff and had 2 beds as we booked. The bed and sheets were clean (ish) with stains. We checked for bugs and could not find any. The TV worked! (Honestly, at this point we were expecting the worst so this was a win). The hard floors felt dirty so we mostly kept our shoes on the whole time except to get into bed (normally hotel rooms have carpet of some kind so this was weird). We found clumps of hair next to the nightstand. The furniture felt like the cheapest things you could buy from Walmart 20 years ago. The bathroom felt gross and unclean, but I gave this place an overall 2/5 for this reason alone: The water pressure in our unit (unlike that guy from the line at the front desk) was so strong and the water was hot. Honestly, for me, that was a huge win at that point. Also, something must have happened in the unit above us because when we returned to the room after a day out, there was drywall dust all over the floor, beds, and nightstand from the ceiling. You could visually see where the dust had come from because there were small dots of empty drywall on the ceiling. The whole place felt super dated and cheap. The pool area was actually quite beautiful, but we didn't swim because the water was pretty cold. The doors to their arcade (which looked pretty cool) were locked with zip ties. There was a sign that said "Fitness Center "
"Long wait in line to get my room key. Room smelled fresh like they were trying to hide something since it didn’t have any carpet. Room door did not latch to lock. Rusted towel racks in bathroom, patched up ceiling & bathroom walls. Toilet didn’t flush well. Towels were small. Cracks around the sealant in the bathroom & around the toilet. No counter to put your toiletries in the bathroom. Can hear everything in the hallway."
"Counted at least 20 little bugs in the bed ALONE. Praying it isn’t bed bugs, they’re really tiny. Smaller than ants.. Do not recommend, not clean. No towels first 3 days during our stay, we had to use our own. They charge an additional $100 deposit on top of what I already paid and then $5 additional mandatory a night for “wifi” and 2 other things."
"Rooms service were awful beds sheets of our first room wa dirty with blood on that. Towels worn out and ditty. The only good thing about this hotel ( if we can say) was their nice receptionist . Nice people who try their best to help people"
"The beds were awful. My back still hurts!!! The shower only worked halfway. The other half was like a bath. The bathtub filled up while showering. Spoke very bad English. It's not a huge deal, but something people may want to know. The door was hard to close. No "do not disturb sign". Room not cleaned on the first day but the cleaned half the room on the second day. Made one bed not both. 2 towels for a room reserved for 4 people. Ghetto! Paper thin walls. Thin pillows. Not enough outlets. The outlets they did have were so lose that my phone charger just fell out. For some reason our room didn't have a trash can in it except the small one in the bathroom. I found that very weird. I had to put any trash together in a corner. only good thing was that it is close to universal, which is why we were in Florida to begin with."
