Avanti Palms Resort and Conference Center

"Location is good, but that’s the only good thing about this place. For one, we ended up picking this hotel for the “free” resort shuttle and the “0” resort fee that they offered online. Once I arrived to check in, I was charged another $118 in fees for exactly that, shuttle & resort fees. They just wait until you get there to surprise you instead of charging you when you book. Second, the floors & wall throughout this place were in bad shape and always seemed dirty. We had to have several keys reprogrammed for some reason. And last, I had to go to the front desk TWICE about dirty sheets right after it was “cleaned”. All kinds of stains and remnants of black hair when no one in our group had black hair. Definitely do not recommend, I really don’t know how they have 3 stars. I would go somewhere else that’s honest and upfront of all the fees and included fees."

"I was at this hotel for a convention. Positives: clean rooms, friendly staff, comfortable temps in the room and convention center, food at the market place is cooked to order and tasty. I did not use amenities like the pool or gym. Cons: definitely needs some repairs and renovations: chipped paint, scratched up surfaces, threadbare furniture in lobby, dusty center pieces in lobby, very stark and sparse design. Also there were a lot of gnats in the convention center which made me wonder if there is a moisture or mold issue. Other things: long lines at the cafe and market place. The cafe had one person taking orders, filling orders, brewing coffee. Our room did not have a remote for the TV or a hairdryer. There was no ice in the ice machines on our floor like they were turned off, one of the tower elevator's was quite shaky. Currently, would not choose to stay here if I were not attending an event at the hotel. But... Hiring more staff, some TLC to the building and improvements to the decor would make this a great place to stay !"

"I am not one to write reviews (especially bad ones) but here I am. I booked this hotel for February vacation with the full expectation that we were staying at a nice resort. But beware, because looks can be deceiving. Once my fiancée and I arrived, we were greeted by a beautiful lobby, but little did we know that was the nicest part of the resort. We checked in and got our key and were told that we were to go to building 6. We were both super excited to get our vacation good vibes going. However, as soon as we got to the room we realized we had been duped. Instead of a beautiful resort room as was advertised on the website what we walked in to was a really beat up motel room. The floors were dirty like they had not been washed in weeks, the walls had marks and mold, and as soon as I dared inspect the covers on the bed we found hair as if nobody had even bothered wash and change the sheets from the previous guest. I then went to the front desk to explain the situation and ask for an upgrade. Instead the woman behind the desk was nonchalant like this was yet another complaint and like such complaints were just another common nuisance and told me I would have to wait until the morning, and proceeded to call on the next person in line with a loud “next” like she had better things to do than to deal with me. This experience was completely unacceptable, and it blows my mind that such a “resort” is in business and that the owners allow this place to be in such disrepair with such lousy service. Please beware before deciding to spend your money at this “resort.” We will never be back."

"I have absolutely no idea how this resort has a 3 star rating. It should not even be called a resort. Upon checking in, I unpacked and was staying for work. While there I found a cockroach on the floor and killed it quickly. Well, by the next day I had found 4 more. I contacted the front desk and told them. There only response was to come in to the front desk and get a new room. Being here for business, I had little time and the front desk was always full of people. The main areas and pool are clean, but throughout my stay I kept finding more and MORE cockroaches. Including ones sneaking their way into my bags and around the bed. The last night, I did not even sleep because of the issue. I'm disappointed the hotel didn't take more initiative to checking in on me, ensure I was placed elsewhere, and spray the room clearly an infestation. This issue is in addition to hundreds of high school students treating this place like their own playground and screaming all hours of the night."

"The Hotel is good value for money. I wouldn't call it fancy and the room could use some TLC. Our bathroom door wasn't closing all the way and the blankets aren't the greatest. I do have to say that all the staff I interacted with was super helpful and friendly from the front desk to the little restaurant/shop. They were all outstanding. If you are willing to compromise on some things and have a smaller budget this place is a good choice"
