"One of the worst and most dangerous complexes I've been in. Neighbors are blaring noise all hours of day and night, shooting off fireworks on the side walks in front of everyone's doors, blaring terrible music. Worthless office refuse to help with anything. If you have children or plan to, stay away from this terrible complex. The entire area surrounding it is dangerous. Currently trying to let my nephew nap and the neighbor is blaring music refusing to turn it down. It's not worth the headache and rent is WAY to high for how terrible these apartments are made and lack of maitnance. Drawers are always messed up cabinets loose and crooked. Blinds are so cheap the slightest touch will destroy them. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere."
"This place and surrounding properties are TERRIBLE!! The buildings are so old and infested with bugs (including termites at one point). They wanted to raise my rent almost $400 without doing any upgrading or additional maintenance because they said they were “matching surrounding competitors.” That may be the case on price but the quality is not worth it. Super thin walls, a/c barely works. If you’re in a townhome, it’s impossible to keep the upstairs even remotely cool. I also had trouble getting my security deposit back and when I finally got it, they stopped payment on the check so it bounced. Absolutely terrible place to live. It’s just overall a dirty and scummy place. Do not recommend to my worst enemy."
"When I moved to Charleston, SC in April of 2004, I was in need of a place to call home. The first complex I called did not have an opening until June. So sight unseen I called Town House Village. According to the Manager I spoke to, I was the only client she booked over the phone. Later that same day , I met with the management team and got to see my new home. This was January of 2004, and my new home was in the state of being remodeled. The previous tenant I believe had lived in the same town house for 16 years. I remember thinking who lives in an complex for more than a few years. Well, , as it turns out I lived there almost 17 years. The owners and management treat each resident as if they are family. Over the course of my stay at Town House Village I had some life issues including the passing of my dad. The support I received from the staff and owners still warms my heart. Enough about me, why would I stay for almost 17 years. First and foremost was that anytime and I mean anytime, I had a maintenance issue, it was addressed and fixed almost immediately. The staff are very multi talented and can do many things. Trust me on a Friday night at 11 in July when your ac conks out, you really appreciate them. Secondly, is the affordability for the size of the town house and location of the complex. The grounds are kept up with flowers all over and the grass is cut every Wednesday. They take tremendous pride in what I called home for so many years. Typing this I think of all the friends i made including the staff over my many years there. Believe me when I say, if and when I ever move back to Charleston, I’ll definitely call Town House and West Village my home again."
"Very poor management staff. We been living in townhouse village apartment for last 3 years. Approximately 8 months ago a family with a dog moved next to us. Everything is fine, they are nice people but their dog keeps barking for hours and hours when they are out of home. If it sees something it keeps barking nonstop. It’s almost impossible to rest at home during daytime if they leave their dog alone. We tried to call the management they said it can bark since it’s the daytime. And the assistant property manager Jennifer was rude to me when I was complaining. She was keep telling me that I am lying. I came to know from my other neighbor who is also having problem with the dog barking, that the assistant manager and that neighbor is friends so she is not doing anything. We are peace loving people. But because of someone’s luxury our right to stay in quiet Is hampering. If the dogs barking is for few times now and then we don’t have any problem with that. But if it’s barking for hours and hours and it’s loud. And it’s really bothering and painful to anyone."
"I lived at Townhouse Village for 2 years. This was my third apartment. This complex is the first one I'd recommend in the Charleston area for anyone looking for a great place for a reasonable price. Management: I am a very low maintenance resident, but management was always responsive and friendly towards me. I had some concerns with a neighbor early on while living here, and they approached the situation objectively and resolved it well. Townhouse Village recently merged their management staff with Village Square Apartments. However, I continued to work with the same representatives of Townhouse Village, so they continued to be great to interact with. Financial/Deposit: Townhouse Village is very reasonably priced. They are large apartments, and there were no increases to my rent during my time there. Deductions from my deposit were reasonable, and I was charged what I expected with no bogus fees. Property: Townhouse Village is a somewhat old complex, so the exterior appears somewhat antiquated. The landscaping is well maintained in most cases. The walls are somewhat thin due to the apartments' age. Maintenance: I had only 2 maintenance issues over the course of 2 years. The first was a low-urgency door knob malfunction that was fixed the next day. The other was a more urgent water heater leak, but this was fixed very promptly after they completely replaced the water heater. I was very impressed at maintenance's professionalism and timeliness. Safety/Surrounding Area: Townhouse Village is located in a reasonably safe part of town, but it's certainly not as nice as Mount Pleasant or James Island. There are many shopping locations nearby, including the mall. This also means that there is quite a bit of noise pollution. Cleanliness/Pests: Townhouse Village hires an exterminator to spray each apartment for pests every few months. As a result, I believe I saw only 1 cockroach during my entire 2 years there. Spiders and silverfish were uncommon. Like everywhere in Charleston, there were a ton of termite swarmers depending on the time of year. I never saw any signs of rats or mice. Overall, Townhouse Village is a great value at a convenient location. I would still be living there if I didn't have to move for a new job!"
