"Don't believe the fake 5 star reviews! They are liars! Is anyone eve going to fix my stove? Or my mailbox? 2 months of not receiving mail feels illegal. And the black mold in the vents is not the vibe. Also a PSA; they will have you sign a lease for one amount, but then "lose the lease" and charge a $200 month to month fee or offer a new lease at a higher amount (after already raising the rent $200 per year) And then they purposefully decrease office hours to make it purposefully difficult to even pay them on time. Avoid this place at all costs."

"I had me a great time from May22 - Jul23, 2 blocks from JBC military base (I work for the military so that was SUPER COOL) yes there was partying going on but if you want to live at a retirement home then go there instead, theses are working class people who want to have a good time, myself included and just like great parties there's some evidence the next morning but it always got picked up like at YOUR parties if you ever had a great time. So relax, chill, it's a Saturday night! The 1 person who said people spit or throw things at your car if you look at them the "wrong way" well may I suggest to STOP looking at people the "wrong way" adjust your attitude and nonverbals, that never happened to me. Every1 I met there was friendly and helpful. To the person that said the staff thought they were better then them, rather arrogant that you can infer that kind of value system, so enough with the inferior complex, that also never happens to me because I treat people with respect instead of assigning some attribution error. Now some of these reviews are several years old and this is a newer staff run by the the hard working property manager Shadia. I had 3 property managers while I was there, it did get better with each successive 1 and they finally got it right plus Shadia was working solo without a staff that usually numbered 4. I know when someone is working hard without the help of others AND GETTING IT DONE. Things really changed when she got there. I should have asked if she was ever a Marine..Siempre Fi!!! The previous PM didn't always look at you when you were talking to them, they looked at the PC screen, Shadia looks at you, listens, and gives you an honest answer. To the person that said the positive reviews were written by staff (what?! you took the time to investigate? where's your evidence Dude?) I am not staff, I was a tenant and I had a great time, people, staff, location. It reminded me of people who get stationed at an overseas location and just complain about everything, the food, the people, the weather, etc. To the laundry woes; there's laundry right over the fence one block if you want to use larger washer/dryers, problem solved...plus a liquor store right next door (wink wink). If you like a place and someone bad mouths it becuz of a bad experience years ago, you want to stand up and say wait a minute. So if you're a military person who gets stationed on the Air Base side of JBC, this is the place!!! Property manager & staff make you feel welcomed like you're visiting a good neighbor and rightfully so becuz they are at apt C11. My 1 complaint would be the lack of recycling options, an easy fix...Shadia, can you perform another miracle? This is my honest review becuz I can't stand bovine excrement. This place rocked for me!"

"Take note - this business posts fraudulent positive reviews written by their own staff to try and boost their score, both here and on Facebook. They also manipulate their photos. The images shown do not accurately reflect what the property looks like. Don't trust any positive reviews. Run from these slumlords. They will lie to your face, not fix things that are broken. Neighborhood is in the WORST part of town. Prepare to hear, see, and smell drug dealers throughout the complex at all hours. I smell weed through the walls. Loud neighbors - speak with the police officers in the area and they will tell you noise complaints are common for this complex, although office staff pretend to know nothing about the noise. Officer Mussatti was the last one I've called out here, and she'll tell you firsthand, this is a DUMP. People leave trash all over the place - they don't care enough to throw things in the dumpster. Neighbor has left smelly trash outside their door for several days.The only "pool" here is a filthy, murky cesspool. Any time I've tried to use it, it was dirty, cups strewn about and the water very cloudy. Laundry machines repeatedly broken. Roof is leaking and I believe there is mold. A/C and heat do not work, and instead of fixing it, their maintenance tells me I have to pay out of pocket to fix it, without a rate reduction. I'm sure the owners (Darby) will have some nasty and sarcastic comment to make about my review (see their comments under the other reviews - that's par for the course). That shows the low level of professionalism you can expect from them - like children, they always expect to have the last word, and will attempt to call everyone a "liar" if they don't write a glowing review about their properties. That should be a glaring red flag. What a shame that they don't put all that time and effort into making it a better community, Instead of desperately trying to discredit anyone with valid criticism, complaints or concerns. Update: On my exit walk through, one of the staff mentioned charging me to repaint their leaky roof - as if it was my fault that their dingy old apartments are falling apart! I left their unit spotless and was due every last penny back to me. They are so desperate for money that they held my deposit until I threatened to take them to small claims court. The owner called me personally to whine about this review, attempted to insult me, and complained about how this review "cost them money." It should cost you money when you treat your residents poorly, and I'm not the only resident (current or former) who feels that way. Glad people have sense enough to leave. I am in a much better apartment elsewhere with working A/C and quiet neighbors who don't participate in illegal activities, and management cares about me. Darby Development, however, is truly the lowest of the low.."
