"We feel like we nailed it with Emeline for our three day trip to Charleston for our anniversary. It is beautiful and the location is perfect. The service was friendly and the restaurant there was a treat also! Definitely glad we chose to upgrade to a larger room with a bathtub at the last minute. Our only complaint is the beds. I ended up with a kink in my neck due to the lack of support in the mattress. But I still highly recommend! It felt like home every time we walked in after a long day. Oh, and the courtyard is so charming and lounge areas are all so charming!"
"So, so happy with our stay! Everything was incredible. From the cafe, to the restaurant, to the rooms. They truly thought of everything. I had a package delivered to the hotel that they couldn’t find for a couple of days and every single person on staff was aware and looking for it. They were so on top of it. Kelly was such a sweetheart and was the one who ended up finding my package after she kept looking every day! Would definitely recommend this hotel and go back."
"Very nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay with our little dog. Great service, good room quality, excellent location next to the market, walking distance from the bay and rainbow row. Had dinner at the restaurant in the outdoor courtyard. The heaters were a nice addition to keep us warm in the winter. Will definitely stay here again."
"If this is your first time to Charleston, this is a great place to stay as it is in an extremely touristy area. The exterior and interior of the hotel is gorgeous. The restaurant is great and I loved how decorated the place was due to it being Christmas. The beds and sheets are also very comfortable, which is a huge plus. They also supplied a lovely bed and treats for my pup as well as a bowl. The rum punch welcome cocktail was also very yummy. However, this where my praise stops. It was obvious that my room wasn’t cleaned prior to my arrival. There was a decent pile of dust on the TV stand and the refillable glass bottle and wine glasses had crusty smudges on them. I took it upon myself to wash the items in the sink, but it’s definitely worth noting their original condition. I also had to repeatedly pester the front desk within a few hours of my arrival regarding my hotel phone that wasn’t working. I finally gave up after the second day of them not caring enough to actually fix it. It would’ve been nice to be able to order room service and call the front desk but I suppose that’s too much to ask. One more thing to note- the doors to the rooms close (slam) very very loudly. There was constant noise coming from the hall due to this. It was so bad that I could hear my own doorframe shaking anytime a guest would enter and exit their room. Surely this could be fixed somehow so as not to be a constant nuisance to those in their rooms, and still maintain the original/historical integrity of the building itself. I myself made sure to close the door quietly so as not to disturb anyone, but it’s asking a lot of a guest to ensure that they make the effort to close their door quietly since most people are in a hurry to get out and explore the city. I’ve been coming to Charleston for nearly a decade so I don’t feel the need to be constantly out and about. I could’ve done without the extra noise from other guests when trying to relax in my room."
"Everything at the Emeline is about service and charm. Its a larger hotel but retains a boutique feel. The staff was phenomenal at every encounter and the location is as perfect as it gets if you are visiting from our of town and trying to figure out where to stay. We were upgraded to a 2 story room on the courtyard with a 1st floor entrance. Huge bathroom and shower, great bed. The only knock on the layout was that the sitting room downstairs felt a bit dated and was dark so did not spend much time there, but nice to have the extra space. The retro record player was a cool concept but did not actually work very well. Lastly, no in room coffee. You have to go either into the lobby in the morning or Nespresso machines on all the other floors to use anytime of day. Enough nitpicking. We loved our stay and would stay again. Maybe not the best value in Charleston but worth it."
