"I wish I had read some of the reviews for this Property Management company prior to leasing from Sloane Realty. If you do take on a lease with them, when you move out do not spend your own money on trying to clean the unit or repair any of the damages. I can assure you, it is a wasted effort. Upon move in, the property did not have a proper paint of coat and there were damaged spots on the walls. The drywall was crumbling in the bathroom as the wrong paint and sheen were used in an EXTREMELY poorly vented bathroom. The owner fought us when we requested to have a towel bar installed as there was nowhere to hang bath towels in the entire bathroom. I should have known then how the experience would go at this point. I noted these items upon move-in and they remained the same during my tenancy. They will only fix something in your unit that might cost them money in the long run-i.e. they will fix your running toilet because they pay the water bill. Everything else will be a fight for you. Our neighborhood dumpster was broken at the bottom for months and we went over a month without the recycling being picked up. When I called to address the issues, nothing was done. I was asked to reach out to the waste management company myself. When I did so, I was told again to have the PM company reach out directly. The rep at Sloane was upset that they had to take care of this issue. This should never have been a responsibility of a non-owning tenant in the first place. There is a monthly charge for these things. We had trash seeping out of the dumpster for months and wet cardboard all over the parking lot for over a month. When I moved out, I was told I'd be given my move-out instructions 30 days in advance of move out. This did not happen. The email sent to me stated that I had previously received my instructions. I had not. They sent them to me within the week of my move-out date and they included having the carpets chemically cleaned with the furniture removed from the home, and a house cleaning. This information is not provided when you sign the lease. I moved out on a holiday, but still managed to get one of my cleaners to deep clean the home. I was still charged for the service after the fact. The additional charges amounted to over half of the initial security deposit. The lease allows for you to mount small items in the house. I am the Director of Construction for a construction management company, and I can easily price the small repairs for a mounted TV that were necessary. I can assure you they do not amount to half of the deposit. I left a full bucket of paint matched paint in the closet for them to use, yet they somehow managed to rack this bill up with a random contractor's invoice-who I have been unable to track down. Please come to MY company for any repairs you may need as I can assure you they will not cost you anything close to the racket Sloane is running. They will find a way to keep at least half of your money when you move out. My advice is just to understand this on the front end, do not plan to get that money back, and certainly do not invest any of your own money in repairs on your own. They'll find a way to charge you for something unsubstantiated, regardless."
